Balms I've Got My Eye On 5.10.13

Happy Friday, everyone! I feel like I never stop traveling, I just got back last Wednesday and just last night we got on a plane to fly to Chicago for my graduation this weekend. We had such a long flight, we didn't get in until 1AM this morning. What stinks is that this weekend is full of SO much stuff I need to get done in addition to walking at graduation. Today I'm spending the whole day boxing up my stuff from my condo downtown; tomorrow I'm having movers come to take my furniture to my grandma's and I have to supervise, and we'll be visiting my grandparents; tomorrow night we're getting everyone together to celebrate my graduation; Sunday I walk at graduation, and after I think I'll finally be able to relax a little bit; then Monday I think Rob and I will just take it easy, finally! I know, you're all thinking, what? You were just in Hawaii last week! Boy, do I wish I was still there! So many stressful things have happened since the day we got back that have left us both feeling completely drained. Wow, okay, I'm ranting a lot. Let's get to it, after this weekend of work, I wouldn't mind getting some of these as my reward:

Adriana keeps coming out with more and more flavors that I have to get my hands on! Seriously, banana balms are probably some of my most favorite balms ever, and a banana Ripe Shop balm can only mean complete awesomeness! Did I take that too far? Too bad.

Phew! I hope all my ranting and sassiness isn't bothering you, I've been super tired lately which makes me extra sassy!

Aubrey E. Apothecary Part IV

I know it's been a while since my last Aubrey E. Apothecary review and that I got these balms a few months ago, but at the time these flavors were new and I had to get my hands on them as quickly as possible!


Company: Aubrey E. Apothecary

Flavors: Pistachio Ice Cream, Peach Pomegranate, and Pear Green Tea. The Pistachio Ice Cream smells incredible! It has such a strong sweet and creamy pistachio scent, it makes my mouth water! It's probably one of the most amazing pistachio lip balms I own, if you love pistachio balms, this is one you definitely need in your collection! The Peach Pomegranate was a flavor I had never seen (at the time) and it had me very curious. This balm has a very fruity scent, I can't pick out the peach or pomegranate individually, but this balm does have a lovely fruity scent. The Pear Green Tea is probably one of the most unique lip balm flavors I own. This balm has a light green tea scent with the scent of ripe pears. It's a more mellow balm and it really is lovely!

Wear: These balms go on smooth and slick, but they're not too oily. They feel a little thinner than some of my other creamy balms, but that doesn't mean they don't cover just as well! These balms provide beautiful coverage, you only need one or two swipes on top and bottom and you're good to go!

Packaging: These balms come in lovely oval tubes which are clear. The labels on the balms also have clear labels. The flavors of the balm are positioned right on front and each balm has a different color combination to them that corresponds to the flavor of the balm.

Price: $3.75 which is right in the ballpark of what I'm willing to pay for a balm and it's definitely worth it for one of Aubrey E.'s balms!

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 twists. I really loved the flavors I picked this time and I just noticed that Aubrey E. has a few more flavors in her shop that I haven't tried yet, guess those will be on my wish list!

ForGoodnessGrape Part VII

I hope you're all ready for a kind of long review! There are a ton of balms that need to be covered in this post and I'll try to keep it as concise as possible, but you probably know by now how much I like to ramble. This was the first order that kicked off my spree of buying several more large orders from ForGoodnessGrape, I don't know how or why that happens, but it happens a lot! =)

Company: ForGoodnessGrape

Flavors: Lemon Meringue Pie, Banana Colada, Chocolate Banana, Peaches and Cream, Papaya Coconut, Strawberry Lime, Passion Fruit, and Chocolate Kahlua. The Lemon Meringue Pie smells incredibly lemony, but it's a more rich and creamy lemon scent than a bright and citrusy lemon scent. I love anything lemon, so this creamy lemon balm was going to be a winner in my book from the start. The Banana Colada was one I kept close by when I was on a huge banana balm kick. It's a perfect banana balm combined with coconut and pineapple, it's so lovely and tropical, I can tell I'll be using it a lot this summer! The Chocolate Banana is any chocolate or banana lover's dream, it's such a beautiful mix of both scents! This balm has a rich chocolate scent that's combined with the delicious scent of banana. It reminds me of those frozen chocolate bananas! The Peaches and Cream is probably one of my favorite ForGoodnessGrape flavors. It has such a sweet scent to it, ripe peaches and sweet cream. It really is lovely! Another balm that will definitely be perfect for summer is the Papaya Coconut. It really reminds me of being on the beach! It smells of warm coconut and tropical papaya. I'm not a huge fan of papaya, but when it's in a balm or shampoo, I love it! The Strawberry Lime is another balm that is definitely going to be one of my choices for summer. It's absolutely perfect! This balm is a combination of sweet, ripe strawberries and tangy, refreshing sour lime! It's soooo yummy! The Passion Fruit is really fruity and is more of a mellow passion fruit scent than some of my other passion fruit balms which are more of a bright, tropical and sweet scent. Lisa also included a tube of Chocolate Kahlua with my order. I've never had Kahlua before, but this balm smells wonderful! This balm is a rich chocolate scent with a touch of creaminess to it, this is a really decadent balm!

Wear: These balms glide on smooth and creamy! They have no fight in them at all, they go on and cover beautifully! They really sink into my lips and make my cracked lips a lot more manageable. (Yes, somehow I still have chapped lips, yes I know I have a million tubes of lip balm, but still get chapped lips).

Packaging: These balms come in your average sized lip balm tube. Each balm has a different label which is colored to correspond with the flavor in some way. Each label also has the flavor of the balm clearly stated on front which makes it easy to find the exact balm I'm looking for.

Price: $3.75 per tube which is definitely worth it for one of Lisa's balms!

Haul of the Week 5.8.13

I hope you're all ready for this, this haul is huge! I think it's mostly because it's two weeks worth of product that I've received, but maybe I did go a bit overboard too? There are a TON of amazing balms I received this week though and I'm really excited to share them with you! Enjoy!

Filthy Farm Girl

I went a little nuts and bought every flavor I could when I found these in one shop while in Hawaii. They were just too cute to pass up. I got a few stares for buying 8 tubes, but at least Rob and I knew it was pretty normal. I just checked their website and found that they have 3 other flavors I'm really interested in trying =).

Hawaiian Bath & Body

When my friend Laura went to Hawaii last she came back with a balm from Hawaiian Bath & Body that I fell in love with immediately, it was their Sugar Cane balm, and I was definitely on the hunt for more balms from this company when I went on my trip. They still have a few more I want to try that I couldn't find in stores, so I'll have to order them online.

Forever Florals 

These were the first balms I picked up while in Hawaii because they're just about everywhere. Holy cow do these smell wonderful!

Ripe Shop Part Three

Okay, by now you must know how I love Ripe Shop balms, I try to get my hands on as many of them as I can! I know some of you are probably hoping this review is on some of the newer balms I just got from Adriana, but those are still to come!

Company: Ripe Shop

Flavors: Red Velvet, Watermelon, Cocoa Pumpkin Cheesecake, and Indian Mango. The Red Velvet smells SO rich, it's chocolatey with a lot of creaminess to it, I really, really love this balm! The Watermelon reminds me of my childhood for some reason. It smells like watermelon jolly ranchers and it's super sweet and fruity, definitely perfect for summer! The Cocoa Pumpkin Cheesecake smells exactly like spicy pumpkin cheesecake with a little bit of rich cocoa thrown in. It's really lovely!! I couldn't wait to try the Indian Mango which smells wonderful! It smells just like mango lassi! You can definitely tell that there's mango and yogurt with a little bit of spice, yum!

Wear: These balms go on so smooth and slick! I don't have to put any pressure at all to get balms on my lip. These are probably some of the softest balms I've ever used, they literally just melt right into your lips!

Packaging: These balms come in oval tubes with white labels. The labels have the flavor of the balm and the shop's website right on the front.

Price: $4 per tube or $7 for 2 which is definitely a great deal!

Rating: 5 out of 5 twists. I love these balms just like I love all my other Ripe Shop balms! If you have any sort of inkling to try any of these flavors, you should just go and buy them! They're really great!

Suzy's Scent Shop

A little while ago I was contacted by Suzy over at Suzy's Scent Shop to see if I'd be interested in trying some of her balms. Of course I gave her shop a gander and picked out a few I'd be interested in trying and she quickly sent them to me.

Company: Suzy's Scent Shop

Flavors: Lime Sugar, Creamy Coconut, Wild Cherry, and Pink Lemonade. The Lime Sugar has a mellow lime scent combined with a sugary sweetness, it's quite lovely! The Creamy Coconut is dead on warm, tropical coconut; definitely a coconut lover's dream. The Wild Cherry is a bright, ripe cherry scent. It also has a nice sweetness to it, it reminds me a little bit of a cherry lollipop! Suzy also sent me a tube of Pink Lemonade which smells exactly like a cold glass of pink lemonade in the summer. It's really wonderful!

Wear: This balm goes on super smooth, it's really unlike any of the other balms I have. It feels like it's firm but it goes on really smooth, but not crazy creamy so not a ton of balm goes on but you really only need a little bit of this balm to get really great coverage. Does that make sense? My lips feel soft almost instantaneously after putting this on!

Packaging: These balms come in those lovely oval tubes that I love and each one has a different colored label which makes it really easy to identify which balm you're reaching for. The labels also have the names of the balms right on front and the name of the shop on the back of the label.

Price: $3.75 per tube which is right in the ball park for what I'm willing to pay for a lip balm!
