Softlips Limited Edition Holiday 2013

Happy Tuesday, everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday week/weekend if you were celebrating Thanksgiving. If you weren't, I hope you were still able to take advantage of some of the sales that were happening! I'm excited to tell you about these holiday balms from Softlips, I think these would make great stocking stuffers or an addition to a gift!

Company: Softlips

Flavors: Salted Caramel and Praline Brownie. The Salted Caramel smells of rich, ooey-gooey caramel. This balm has such a rich scent, it's just delicious! The scent is so warm and decadent, if you like caramel, you'll love this balm! If you can believe it, the Praline Brownie is just as decadent, if not more, as the Salted Caramel. It has a rich scent comprised of fudge brownie and nuts. I don't even like brownies that much, but this balm makes me want to bake up a batch!

Wear: These balms go on soooo smooth and really creamy. The thin tube allows you to put balm exactly where you want it. Like most, if not all, Softlips balms, these balms have a slight tingly sensation to them. I actually like tingly balms, but if you don't then these balms may not be the ones for you.

Packaging: These come in thin white tubes with the name of the company right on front. Beneath the company name is the flavor of the balm and right next to the company name is an image depicting the flavor of the balm.

Price: I think I paid around $4 for each, these come in a two pack, each one paired with a tube of vanilla. So you get 2 tubes of balm for about $4 which isn't bad at all!

Overall
Pros: Flavor, Wear, Packaging, Price
Cons:

Rating: 5 out of 5 twists. These are some of my most favorite Softlips balms that I have ever tried, both scents are dead on and just so wonderful!

Have you tried these balms yet? What did you think of them?

Softlips Spring Flavors

I'm so happy with these seasonal flavors that Softlips keeps cranking out. I have yet to be disappointed by them! The ones they've come up with for this Spring are no exception! I was so excited when I found them at Target a few weekends ago in the Easter section.

Company: Softlips

Flavors: Chocolate Bunny and Jelly Bean. The Chocolate Bunny smells like a very rich milk chocolate. It's a really nice chocolate balm! The Jelly Bean smells very fruity! It's hard for me to single out which scents are in this, but I smell maybe strawberry and some others. I really like this one! The Chocolate Bunny also comes with Vanilla which is a creamy lovely vanilla balm. The Jelly Bean comes with a tube of Raspberry which is a tart and wonderful raspberry balm!

Wear: These go on smooth and easy like all other Softlips balms. They also make my lips tingle a little bit with a cooling sensation. I feel like I've had that with most of my Softlips balms, I actually find it refreshing!

Packaging: These balms come in your typical Softlips tube; a thin long white tube with the fonts on the tube colored to match the flavor of the balm. You wouldn't think that the font color on a label would be that significant, but I actually really enjoy when each font color is different for each flavor. Also these packages are so cute and Easter themed by coming in egg shaped packaging!

Price: I think these were close to $4 per pack.

Overall
Pros: Flavors, Wear, Packaging, Price
Cons:

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 twists. I really love these seasonal Softlips flavors! I think the Jelly Bean is one of my favorite Softlips flavors ever!

Have you tried these seasonal Softlips balms yet? What did you think of them?

Softlips Winter Mint

I have yet another wonderful Softlips™ flavor for you all today! This will be the last of all the Softlips™ holiday and winter flavors for this season! I hope this series of Softlips™ reviews will help you in deciding which flavors to try out!

Company: Softlips™

Flavors: Vanilla and Winter Mint. The Vanilla is a cool and creamy light vanilla scent. It also has a little bit of cooling effect when I put it on, I think it's lovely! The Winter Mint is amazing! It's a light, cool and tingly mint balm. To me it smells peppermint with a little bit of creaminess, kind of like it has a little bit of vanilla in it.

Wear: Super smooth, the glide on these balms is wonderful! These balms are creamy and make my lips feel soft and moisturized.

Packaging: By now everyone should know what a Softlips™ lip balm looks like; they come in thin white tubes about half the diameter of your usual lip balm tube. The colors on the tube match the flavor of the balm which is very nice and pleasing to the eye. These balms also can be found in the limited edition holiday packaging that would be a great gift as well as a functioning gift tag!

Price: $3 to $4 for a 2-pack of Softlips™ which is definitely not bad!

Softlips Sugar Cookie

These flavors from Softlips™ are perfect for the winter season. I'm so happy to have these flavors in my purse to use when it's cold out. This flavor is probably one of my favorites from Softlips™.

Company: Softlips™

Flavors: Raspberry and Sugar Cookie. The Raspberry smells just like you would expect, tart yet sweet. The Sugar Cookie smells wonderful! It's light, sugary, and buttery just like the delicious baked treat. It smells incredible without being overwhelming.

Wear: These balms glide on smooth and make my lips feel soft and nourished. I love the way Softlips™ balms make my lips feel! I'm wearing the Sugar Cookie right now and it feels so creamy on my lips.

Packaging: Softlips™ balms come in thin white tubes which I think are so adorable and very different from other lip balm packaging. The colors of the fonts on these tubes match the flavor of the balm and just add to the aesthetics of the packaging. And right now you can find these balms in special holiday gift tag packaging, perfect for giving as a gift as it has "To" and "From" placements on it. Cute and functional, gotta love that!

Price: $3 to $4 for a dual pack of Softlips™ which I think is definitely worth it!

Softlips Sugar & Spice

Happy New Year, everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful night celebrating the new year with friends and family! I know my family and I will definitely be taking it easy and playing it low key today. I move tomorrow to San Francisco so, as much as I'd like to take it easy, I have lots of last minute packing that needs to get done. I'll apologize now in advance, in case I can't get posts lined up in time, if my post for Thursday is a bit delayed.

Company: Softlips

Flavors: Sugar & Spice and Vanilla. The Sugar & Spice is definitely sweetness with a hint of spice, but it's not a very strongly scented balm. My sister thought it smelled like Chai Tea and my boyfriend thought it smelled like cotton candy, so it's definitely not a very strong scent. But, also those two aren't known for being able to identify scents correctly. I think this balm kinda smells like a cookie, so maybe this balm is left open for interpretation! The Vanilla is a light vanilla that is a wonderful, not overwhelming scent.

Wear: These balms go on with ease, they glide on smooth and make my lips feel soft! They're moisturizing and these two make my lips feel a bit tingly which I love.

Packaging: These balms come in a thinner than average lip balm tube; it's a very distinct thin white tube. The colors of the fonts go along with each flavor of the balm. These balms also come in a limited edition pack that is designed as a gift tag, which makes it perfect for gift giving. Simply write who it's to and who it's from, and you're good to go!

Price: $3-4 which I think is totally worth it.

Overall
Pros: Flavors, Wear, Packaging, Price
Cons:

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 twists. These balms are awesome! I have always been a Softlips™ fan and I probably always will be. I love these holiday and winter flavors from Softlips™. They're all wonderful!

Have you tried this holiday pack yet? What did you think of it?

This pack was provided complimentary to me by Softlips™, however, this review is comprised strictly of my own opinions. Thank you, Softlips™, for this opportunity to review your products!

Softlips Sugar Plum Berry

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays Everyone! I hope you are enjoying your holiday and get to spend it with friends, family, and loved ones. I know I'm looking forward to spending the day with my family, extended family, and boyfriend. I love getting together with family for the holidays! To keep up with these Tuesday holiday posts, today I have for you Softlips™ Sugar Plum Berry!

Company: Softlips™

Flavors: Sugar Plum Berry and Raspberry. The Sugar Plum Berry is probably one of my most favorite Softlips flavors! It's absolutely wonderful! It's very fruity and sweet! You can definitely tell there is a berry scent in it and a touch of plum with some sweetness. It smells so delicious! The Raspberry is also really good! It smells just like raspberries, tart yet sweet.

Wear: These go on very smooth! They make my lips very soft and nourished.

Packaging: These balms come in thin white tubes that are half the weight of your average sized lip balm tube. The font colors of the tube match the flavor of the balm. Also these two come in a limited edition holiday two pack that looks like a gift tag which would be perfect for gift giving! (Or a gift for yourself ;))

Price: ~$3 for this two pack, which is totally worth it!

Overall
Pros: Flavors, wear, packaging, price
Cons:

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 twists. These balms are great! I'd definitely recommend the Sugar Plum Berry to anyone and everyone!

Softlips Jack Frosting!

Okay this is probably my most FAVORITE Softlips™ flavor ever. Period. I'm in love with this. My boyfriend hates frosting anything and he even thought this smelled good (until I told him what it is of course, and then he didn't like it as much). I will most definitely be having a special post about this balm coming soon :).

Company: Softlips

Flavor: Jack Frosting! This balm smells so amazing, to me it smells just like frosting. Warm, vanilla frosting with a slight tingle. It's weird, this is a very warm scent to me but, when I had my sister and my boyfriend both try to guess what scent it was they both said on two different occasions: chocolate, mocha, caramel. Which is so weird, I think there's just something wrong with their scent receptors ;). This balm has a slight smokey/burnt smell to it too, not burnt but more like toasted. It reminds me of freshly baked goods, it's delicious!

Wear: Smooth! This balm goes on wonderfully and may take a couple more swipes due to the smaller diameter of the balm, but it's totally worth it and not a hassle at all (trust me there are balms that are a hassle out there, I've had some balms where it was a fight and almost too painful to put on). True to a Softlips™ balm, this makes my lips feel super soft and smooth. Oh, did I mention this delicious balm, like most Softlips™ balms, has SPF 20?

Packaging: This balm comes in the typical Softlips™ tube, it's a thin white tube, about half the diameter of your average lip balm tube. The labeling is super neat and simple: 'Softlips' in big writing with Jack Frosting in  a shade of blue (maybe Cobalt?)  font beneath it.

Price: ~$3 for a 2 pack of this wonderful Limited Edition Softlips™ balm.

Overall
Pros: Flavor, Wear, Packaging, Price, SPF 20!
Cons:

Rating: 5 out of 5 twists, I really like this Jack Frosting balm! It's also really cool that the fans got to pick it. It's nice to actually be able to vote on new flavors!

Have you tried Softlips™ Jack Frosting yet?

This pack was provided complimentary to me by Softlips™, however I've only given my 100% honest opinion!  Thank you, Softlips™, for allowing me the opportunity to review your products!

Softlips Peppermint Stick

I haven't shared this with you guys yet, but Softlips has sent me a HUGE package full of products to use and review. I was beyond thrilled and completely shocked at the beautiful package that arrived at my door (it was a huge purple shiny large packaging envelope) and even more shocked by the contents inside! I'm going to review one of each of the products each week as to not overwhelm you with so much Softlips all at once! So let's get started with this week's pick shall we?

Company: Softlips

Flavor: Peppermint Stick. This balm is a wonderful combination of peppermint and vanilla. I like that this has a little more vanilla than other Candy Cane-like balms. It makes the balm smell a bit creamier and tones down the mint a bit. This pack also comes with a stick of Softlips Pearl which has a nice light pinkish tint to it, it doesn't show up on my lips because my lips are too dark.

Wear: This balm goes on smoooooth! True to usual Softlips balms they go on smooth and they make my lips feel soft. Because of the thin packaging, I have to go around a few more times than usual but it's not difficult since the balms go on so easily.

Packaging: The packaging on this balm is so festive! It's the usual Softlips tube, thinner than your usual lip balm tube, but it is covered in red and white stripes like a peppermint stick and it has a red cap to top it all off. I love how festive this balm is!

Price: About $3 for this dual pack. Which is definitely not a bad deal.

Overall
Pros: Flavor, Wear, Packaging!!, Price
Cons:

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 twists, I love Softlips™ balms. I always have and probably always will. This one is definitely no exception. This one is a hard one to find, as are many Softlips™ limited edition flavors, but I'm so glad to have it in my collection!

Have you tried Softlips Peppermint Stick yet? What did you think of it?

--------------
This balm was provided complimentary to me by Softlips™, however, all opinions are my own. My reviews are not biased in any way, they are 100% my honest opinion. Thank you, Softlips™ , for the opportunity to review your products!

Softlips Marshmallow Ghost

This balm was the hardest thing to track down! I didn't find it until last month while in San Francisco! I know it's a little late, but I'm grasping on to all things fall as the weather gets colder and colder. I was so surprised I was still able to find this at the Target in San Fran because I thought that they would have surely been sold out by then!

Company: Softlips

Flavor: Marshmallow Ghost and Vanilla. I really didn't know what to expect from this balm since I've never tried a marshmallow balm before, although I love the occasional bag of marshmallows (haha). This balm smells just like those sugary, fluffy puffs. It's dead on marshmallow, but it's not crazy strong in scent. It also smells a little like the Vanilla Softlips that comes with the Marshmallow Ghost. The vanilla is a light vanilla scent that makes my lips tingle a little when I put it on.

Wear: These balms go on so smooth! There is absolutely no fight in them. I do feel like I need to go around a couple of times since the balms are thinner sticks and don't cover as much surface area as your average balm, but I really can't complain about that since the balms go on so easily!

Packaging: I LOVE this new stick, it's a black stick compared to their usual white sticks which is so awesome. It's such a nice change to the tube, and very festive! It was a black tube with Softlips written in white font and it also has 'Marshmallow Ghost' in a bright orange font. It was definitely perfect for Halloween and fall.

Price: I think I paid about $3 for this pack, it came with Marshmallow Ghost and Vanilla. These tubes are half the weight of your usual tube, but there are two tubes included which means you're paying about the same price for about the same amount of balm.

Overall:
Pros: Flavor, Wear, PACKAGING!, Price
Cons:

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 twists, I love Softlips products and will probably buy them for the rest of my life. Yup, you heard me. I probably have one of the biggest Softlips collections out there (I have Softlips products only sold in Canada also! Thanks to my friend Laura who grabs every product she thinks I don't already have.)

Have you tried Softlips Marshmallow Ghost yet? What did you think of it?

***Stay tuned for a special post about this balm on Saturday!***

Haul of the Week 11.7.12

Hi everyone!

I hope you're having a wonderful day! I can't believe we're already a week into November! I was slowing down on lip balm buying, until I went to San Francisco this past weekend! I definitely did not expect to find as many lip balms as I did. Eventually these posts will start to slow down, but let's enjoy them while they last! Here's what I have to share with you this week:

When I went to San Francisco last weekend I definitely did not expect to find SO many limited edition and special lip balms! These are what I found in three days in San Francisco:

Softlips' Marshmallow Ghost

Softlips' Jack Frosting

Softlips' Sugar and Spice

evolution of smooth's Pomegranate Raspberry

Maybelline's Pink Wink

Chapstick's Apple Cider

Chapstick's Candy Cane

What have you received this week? Anything completely surpass your expectations?

Softlips Lip Gloss

A while back, Softlips announced that they had made two lip glosses to accompany their laundry list of lip balm flavors. I would be lying if I said I wasn't a little bit intrigued by this. One of my favorite lip balm companies making lip glosses? I had waited a long while before I purchased one. I had always seen the Pearl gloss around but I had never seen the Coral gloss, then one day I had stumbled upon it in a random section of the store and took it as a sign to try it! Here's the low down:

Company: Softlips

Flavors: Pearl Gloss and Coral Gloss. It's strange to do this category since these glosses don't really have flavors. The glosses have a mocha-y or vanilla scent, it's strange that it can be both but it has a very warm scent. It definitely doesn't smell bad, to me, my boyfriend, and my sister at least.

Wear: These glosses are applied with a wand with a felt/soft tip applicator. They go on very smooth and a little goes a long way. The coral is a nice reddish color and the pearl is a sheer gloss that doesn't really add any color. These glosses have SPF 10 and are moisturizing. I really like wearing these and I'm definitely not a gloss kind of person. They also last about two hours for a single application, if not longer, since I usually eat or drink after applying it.

Packaging: They come in a thin tube that is 0.15 fl oz. It's applicator, like stated above, is a wand with a slanted felt/soft tip applicator. You can see the color of the gloss directly through the tube which is great, so you know which one you are reaching for. The label is very simple; it is a clear label with Softlips in big letters with the type of gloss underneath it and SPF 10. The active ingredients and the company info is also included but what really sticks out is the company name which is nice. It gives the look of a very simply labeled package.

Price: $4 for one gloss, not too bad I suppose since it's a gloss and glosses are more expensive than lip balm. Also it's a moisturizing gloss that has SPF, which I haven't found anywhere else before, so the $4 price tag is totally worth it.

Overall:
Pros: Colors, wear, packaging, price
Cons:

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 twists, these are pretty darn good glosses. I actually wear them pretty frequently which is very surprising since usually I buy a gloss, wear it once, and toss it into one of my drawers. I love the hint of color and shine to my lips.

Have you tried Softlips' glosses before? What did you think of them?

**Don't forget to enter my giveaway here, it ends Saturday (8/25/12) at 10AM PST!**

My WHOLE Lip Balm Collection!

I'm sure you've all seen at least some of my reviews and how each review has anywhere between 2 and 9 (sometimes even more) lip balms. Upon seeing these, I'm sure you've all wondered, "Where exactly does she keep this stuff?!" Well I'm finally going to share with you all and uh...the world...just how I store all of my lip balms. It's really embarrassing and makes me seem like I have a problem (which I kind of do), but lip balms are like my hobby if you will. I'm going to walk you through each container that I keep my balms, are you ready?

This is my "top" container. It has three drawers, a compartment that opens up on top, and a few holders on top.
These are the holders on top in the back of the container. These balms will be used in giveaways that will happen very, very soon!

This is the first drawer, it used to hold a lot of stuff. It was used for my lip glosses (which now have a little box for themselves in my bathroom), but now it's used for my tinted balms, potted balms, and lip scrubs.

This is the second drawer of the top container.

This is the third drawer of the top container. It houses all of my Softlips and other thin tubed lip balms.

This is my "bottom" container. It has FIVE drawers.

This is the first drawer, there's a lot of Lemon Citrus balms kept in here.

This is the second drawer. it houses my eos balms and all the other ones are special lip balms my dad brought back for me from London and Portugal.

This is the third drawer, it has a lot of Savex balms and balms I picked up over Christmas.

This is the fourth drawer and it houses a LOT of Mylipstuff.com balms (which I haven't reviewed yet) and various others.

This is the fifth drawer and it houses almost all of my Crazy Rumors lip balms and various others.

This is the top and bottom containers put together. These two containers are stacked upon another three drawer unit which houses my makeup.

This is one of my containers that sits in my headboard. This contains all of the new balms I've received in the last couple of weeks. It's a little hard to reach the ones all the way in the bottom without emptying out the entire thing.

This is another container that I keep in my headboard, it contains some of my most frequently or most recently used balms (except that vanilla bean eos stick, that one fell behind my bed a few months ago and I finally picked it up). This container used to house all of the balms I owned. That was back in October or November of last year, ever since I found Etsy my collection has exploded!

This is a bag that I use to carry balms I'm just about to write reviews about. It goes with me almost everywhere that I'm going to be spending some time, just in case the mood to write strikes me.

This is the container I keep in my living room. It sure has come in handy. I used to keep my balms all over my living room end table, but this little container keeps it all neat and tidy in one place.

Here's what the inside of my living room container looks like. It's pretty bare compared to my other containers.

Here's my whole collection (minus my review bag) in one piece!

I hope you enjoyed my walk through, I don't think there's anyone out there who is more addicted to lip balm and trying new flavors like I am! So trust me, I think I know a thing or two about lip balm.

The square cardboard containers can be found at Target in their $1 impulse section when you first walk into the store. The plastic drawers can be found at Target, Walmart, Meijer, basically anywhere and retail for about $10.

If you see any balms from these photos that I haven't reviewed yet and you'd be interested in reading a review about them, please let me know and I'll add it/them to my roster for reviews.

What does your collection look like? Did you get any ideas from my collection on how to keep your balms?

Balms of the Week 6.19.12

The balms I've been using a TON this week are:

Vanilla Mint by C.O. Bigelow
(review can be found here)

Mango Lassi by Epically Epic Soap Co.
(review can be found here)

Watermelon by Softlips
(review can be found here)

Also, I just wanted to let you guys know that this Thursday I'm taking the MCAT so my reviews for the week will be posted very late Thursday night or sometime on Friday. When I post the review is dependent on how burnt out I am from the exam (it's six hours!). Thank you for being patient!

Have you guys tried any of these balms? What balms are you really into this week?

Have a great week!
