Candle Lynn

A few weeks back I wrote about how these balms smelled so fabulous and that there was a special on them, $5 for 3 balms, which definitely isn't too shabby for a natural balm. I had always looked over these balms because they were a bit more plain looking than other balms, so they always ended up on the back burner. Today is the day I finally write about these balms!

Company: Candle Lynn


Flavors: Lemonade, Coconut, and Tango Mango. These flavors are pretty dead on and scrumptious! The lemonade isn't a crazy lemony scent and not as sweet as other lemonade balms, but is still quite pleasant. There's something in it though that reminds me a bit of a candle. The coconut is dead on coconut! It is SO fabulous. When I held it out for my boyfriend to smell he quickly said, "Now THAT is what coconut is supposed to smell like!" If you are a coconut lover, you will love this balm! It smells so wonderful. The tango mango is very interesting. It's the strongest scent out of the bunch and is a wonderful blend of mango and perhaps peaches? It smells divine.


Wear: These balms cover beautifully! One swipe on top and bottom and you're good to go! My lips feel instantly nourished. These balms last about 2 hours which is great.


Packaging: These balms come in your average sized lip balm tube and the labels have a gingham pattern to them with the company name in big letters followed by the flavor of the lip balm on it and "moisturizing" below it. The labels are pretty simple and to the point, very easy to identify which balm you're using.


Price: $2.49 a piece which is a heck of a deal! And right now you can get 3 balms for $5, score!

Rating: 3.5 out of 5 twists, there's something about these balms that don't make them my absolute favorite but these are pretty darn good balms! Especially for the price!

I've been drinking tons of lemonade lately and when I'm not drinking it, this is the next best thing. It is the absolute best lemonade lip balm I've ever had.

Olimax Soap

I am SO sorry I've been late on my posts lately, I've been super busy and have barely had time to sleep let alone write up some reviews. Next week I'll try to make sure I post on Thursday like I usually do. My Etsy.com obsession is just going to keep continuing. I just love the variety of flavors I can find online.

I love when sellers put effort into their packaging.

Company: Olimax Soap

Flavors: Banana Coconut, Orange Creamsicle, and Lemonade. I'm obsessed with lemon anything so beware that there may be an influx of balms containing lemon in the next few weeks. Back to these flavors...all of them have this subtle perfumey, soapy smell lingering over the scent of the balm. I haven't yet decided if that is a good thing or a bad thing yet. I don't usually like really perfumey balms and prefer just scented lip balms that smell like the flavor they are supposed to. The Banana Coconut is very much banana, I have yet to find the coconut part to it. I was really hoping to find an awesome banana coconut blend since I haven't come across that before but this was pretty much just banana. The Lemonade isn't like lemonade, I only sense the perfume-y scent and when applied it doesn't really have a noticeable scent to it. It's a little disappointing since I love lemon and lemonade lip balms. For the Creamsicle flavor, it's a very subtle orange scent and a little hint of cream. I think this is the best flavor out of the three I picked out.

Wear: They go on super smooth and it doesn't take much to get full coverage. I did notice that some went around the outside of my lips, but it also could be how I apply it because I tend to be a little over zealous with putting on lip balm. Pretty decent though. It lasts about 2 hours.

Packaging: Very simple and plain labels on average size lip balm tubes. There are white labels with color bands around the top and bottom of the tube to match the indicated flavor. The company name and a pink flower are also included on the tube. It is the paper kind of label though, no waxy covering so I could see the ink wearing away with frequent use.

Price: I bought 3 for $7.50 which is a heck of a deal, for 1 it's $3 which is not too bad for a natural, vegan lip balm.

Overall:
Pros: Wear, Price, simple label
Cons: Flavors weren't as expected

Rating: 2.5 out of 5 twists, I wasn't too impressed with these balms. The price is phenomenal for three tubes. The wear is great also if you're looking for a spare balm or to try a new balm that isn't too costly.

Crazy Rumors: Fresh Squeezed Collection

Hello all! After yet another hectic week I am finally able to post about one of my new favorite lip balms! I've reviewed this company before, but with a different collection. Why don't I just get right down to it, since I've kept you waiting for so long.

Company: Crazy Rumors

Flavors: In the fresh squeezed collection you get: Lemonade, Limeade, Grapefruit Juice, and Orange Juice. I'll start with my favorite: Lemonade. I CANNOT get enough of this one! It is just like a nice refreshing class of lemonade. I've been using it all day every day for the last week! It's so fabulous. Scent of lemon with a hint of sugar, gorgeous. This is one you should definitely try if you're in the market for a lemony lip balm. The next would be Limeade, the scent is exactly what you'd expect--tangy, tart, sour lime. It's quite good, but not as good as Lemonade. The next two were just so-so in my book. I wasn't a huge fan of the Grapefruit Juice, I actually may have rubbed it off my lips after a while...but it could be because I'm not that big of a fan of grapefruit to begin with. But it was worth a shot. I could also be completely blinded by the Lemonade flavor and now hold very high expectations for the rest of the balms. It didn't really have a smell or a taste to it, then again grapefruits have a very delicate smell as it is. Orange juice was similar to grapefruit, I couldn't really smell anything or taste anything either. I was really expecting something very similar to what you'd pour yourself with breakfast but I was disappointed.

Wear: Each one goes on crazy smooth. I absolutely love it. They glide on right from the get-go. I could put them on around and around my lips all day, they're that smooth! (Obviously I wouldn't do that because that's a little silly...but if you wanted to you could totally do that.) They last a long time too, over two hours. I would have tried to see the actual duration of it but I kept drinking tea every time I applied the balm. Good news is: each application lasted through at least two cups of tea; it truly has some staying power. Love the wear, no matter what the flavor.

Packaging: Like their usual packaging, each tube is suited to fit within its collection. It's your average sized lip balm with very cute labels on them. The label has the collection name, as well as the flavor, and the brand's name. I also never realized this before, the usual "Sealed for your protection" sticker that's at the top of almost every balm you buy, is completely unique for each collection! I don't know how I overlooked that with the last set but it's so awesome! I haven't seen any other brand do that. For this collection it says: Citrus Bliss For Your Kiss. I know, it seems silly but I adore it. The labels are also color coded to match the flavor.

Price: $3.49 online plus shipping. It's really not that bad for a natural, vegan-friendly balm. I think for the natural/vegan balms my price range will be around $3.50 for an average price point. This is a quality product and definitely worth purchasing at least once.

Overall:
Pros: Flavors, scents, application, long lasting, price, packaging, natural
Cons: There's really nothing bad to say about this balm. You like some flavors and you don't like some flavors, it's not really a "con" unless the flavor is truly awful.
