Whispering Willow

In July I did a ton of lip balm buying and came home with a bunch of huge hauls. From my first huge haul (found here) I received these lip balms. Whispering Willow had been one of the first lip balm shops I had ever looked at when I first started using Etsy, but never purchased from them. It might have been because most of their flavors are very basic and simple, but when they had a sale on their products in July, I figured it was just about time that I give them a try!

Company: Whispering Willow

Flavors: Lemon and Mint. These flavors are so wonderful! You'd think that they'd be your plain lip balms but both are pretty great! The Lemon is a great sweet lemony balm, so if you're like me and LOVE lemon anything, this will be one you want to try. The Mint balm is also a great example of what a mint balm should be. It's cool and crisp and just wonderful. It reminds me of double mint gum, which is totally yum!

Wear: These go on very smooth! And they go on so well! They go on a bit thicker than some of my other balms and it is just fabulous. It really feels like my lips are being nourished. The balms are very creamy and it really is just lovely!

Packaging: These balms come in your average sized lip balm tubes that have white labels. The white labels have a tree depicted on them and two color bands, one on the top and one on the top, that match the flavor of the balm inside the tube. It's strange, but awesome, the way these labels feel. They're matte and not waxy at all which makes them super smooth in my hand. I don't know if that's really weird or not, but these balms have the best labels I've ever felt!

Price: $6 for 2 or $10 for 4, both are great prices for a handmade, natural lip balm!

Overall:
Pros: Flavors, Wear, Packaging, Price, Labels!
Cons: More Flavors!

Rating: 3 out of 5 twists. These balms are pretty great. Definitely worth trying especially if you're looking for a new staple balm to throw into your make-up bag or desk drawer.

Ingredients:
Lemon Lip Balm: organic beeswax, organic coconut oil, organic honey, organic lemon flavoring.
Mint Lip Balm: organic beeswax, organic coconut oil, organic honey, organic mint flavoring.

Have you tried Whispering Willow products before? What did you think of them?

Whispering Willow is Having a Sale!

It seems like everyone is having a sale in July, perhaps everyone got the same idea to do a Christmas in July kind of sale? I found another company who has a sale going on today: Whispering Willow.

All of Whispering Willow's products are 25% off right now, no code necessary, everything has just been reduced. I've been dying to try their balms and this may very well be the opportunity I was waiting for to try them out. Their Etsy page can be found here. I'm not sure when the sale ends so if you're planning to buy you should do so quickly! To stay up to date with everything going on with Whispering Willow, you should follow them on Facebook here.

I'm thinking about purchasing the 4 pack and get the Lemon, Mint, Vanilla, and Orange. It's usually $10 for the 4, but with the sale its $7.50.

Will you be taking advantage of this sale? What are some of your favorite products from Whispering Willow if you've tried them before? I'd love any advice or recommendations on this company!

Full Circle Beeswax Lip Balm

Two weeks ago, my boyfriend and I were trying to find something to have for dinner since it was late at night and every place to eat was closed. We decided to go to Schnuck's to find some groceries to make something. I thought it would be a long shot but, I decided to look for lip balm anyway. To my surprise, I found quite the deal and an amazing new balm for my collection.

Company: Full Circle

Flavors: Beeswax, it's minty! It's a wonderful mint lip balm. I haven't been without it since I purchased it. I believe when I first put it on I was talking to my boyfriend and in the middle of applying I said, "oh my gosh delicious, double mint gum". I don't think it's really like double mint gum, but it kind of reminds me of it. If you like mint balms, try to find this one! It's a perfect mint balm.

Wear: It goes on pretty smooth and just adds to the charm of this balm. I love putting it on and feeling the tingly sensation when it's applied. Nothin' much else to say here!

Packaging: A pretty basic tube. It's an average sized tube of balm, it's a white tube with a yellow label that has the company's name and "Beeswax Lip Balm" in big letters. It's pretty simple.

Price: Now here's the kicker, it's an AMAZING balm. And what's even better is...it comes in a pack of two...and...it cost $1.15! Two tubes for $1.15. That's amazing! I was stunned by how little I paid for this gem.

Overall:
Pros: Flavor, Wear, Packaging, Price
Cons: It's hard to find, can't buy online

Rating: 5 out of 5 twists. Try to find this! What's there not to love about this balm? Well...unless you don't like mint or cheap, great balms.

Trader Johann's Virtuoso

Last weekend when I went home to visit my parents, my dad took my sister and I to lunch. After lunch we decided to go to Trader Joe's and of course, I've heard of the lip balm they sell there and have heard nothing but great things about it so I was on the hunt for it. We picked up some random things while perusing the store until my sister and I found the lip balm. I could not wait to try it! Since the balms come in packs of three, I was planning to give one to my sister and my dad and keep one for myself. My dad told me he didn't want one because he was okay with his green tube of Blistex that has been a staple in our house since I was very little. I told him to at least try the Trader Johann's lip balm and as soon as he put it on he was sucked into it. Let's get to it now, shall we?

Company: Trader Joe's

Flavor: Virtuoso (Spearmint). I usually do not like spearmint at all, peppermint is more my cup of tea. But, I really, really enjoyed this spearmint balm. It felt so soothing and refreshing to put on. It has a clear, distinct scent of spearmint and I find it quite pleasant. When I lick my lips it tastes just like minty toothpaste, which isn't terrible (not that I encourage eating toothpaste).

Wear: It goes on so very smooth, pretty slick goes on easy with one swipe while providing great coverage. It also contains SPF 15 which is always an added bonus for any balm. I also think that the spearmint scent would be able to cover up any bad breath that you may have which is a perk for wearing this balm. It also lasts about 2 hours which is great!

Packaging: It's your average sized lip balm tube. It's a white tube with a white and green label with Virtuoso and Lip Balm in big letters and their slogan "Music to your lips" beneath it. Very homemade/Trader Joe's feel. Pretty simple packaging even though it does contain a lot of writing on it.

Price: This is the BEST deal I have found for lip balm anywhere (okay except for a couple occasions where I got lip balm for about $0.40 and $0.67). It's $2.49 for 3 balms! It only comes in a pack of three but that's the price you'd normally pay for just ONE tube anywhere else, making this quite the steal. It comes down to about $0.83. That's even cheaper than a stick of Chapstick brand lip balm, but with 50% organic ingredients! I'd lean for the Virtuoso.

Overall:
Pros: Flavor, Packaging, PRICE!, Wear
Cons: I wish there were more flavors! They've got a great formula, I wish there were more!

Rating: 5 out of 5 twists, unless you're totally against spearmint or mint balms, you should totally invest in a pack of these. Even if you only need one, you can always share with others =).
