e.o.s's Blueberry Acai

Every time a new evolution of smooth balm comes out, I have to get my hands on it. I don't know why! Maybe it's because I can't get over those adorable spheres of balm. I love how their packaging sticks out among my collection, there's certainly not many balms that stick out like these bright little spheres do. It took me a little while to get my hands on this one after it came out this past summer (I think?), but I've got it now and I'm ready to tell you all about it!

Company: e.o.s. (evolution of smooth)

Flavor: Blueberry Acai. This balm smells a lot like blueberry with a little extra tartness to it. I'm assuming that's the Acai in it, though I've never had Acai before except in other balms. If you're a berry fan, you'll like this.

Wear: This balm goes on really smooth, it glides onto my lips with ease. I wouldn't say that this balm is creamy though, it melts into my lips and goes on smooth, but it isn't a creamy formula (that would probably make the sphere of balm more squishy and fall apart when you put it on). I do go around a few times with it, but I'm not sure if it's because the consistency is thin or because I'm having too much fun going around and around! Haha, but seriously you go around a few times and that's plenty enough balm for your lips.

Packaging: This balm comes in a cute, small blue sphere with a twist off top. The balm itself is dome shaped which makes it super easy to put balm right where you need it. Although I did use a lot of my lemon sphere (one of my favorites) until it was flat, and that took a little more contouring on my part to get it on right. The only thing I don't like is that the sphere is a little bulky and if you're someone who likes to put balm in your jean pocket, this balm probably wouldn't fit. Luckily I almost never wear jeans and usually carry balm in my purse of jacket pocket so it's not really an issue for me.

Price: ~$4 I think. I think I paid that much at Target, but I could be a little off. You get the equivalent of almost 2 sticks of balm with this one, so I think it's totally worth it!

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 twists. This balm is pretty awesome! It's not my favorite e.o.s. balm though. The medicated Tangerine, Lemon, and Watermelon Wonderland are probably my top three. Oh and I really like their Sweet Mint too! Basically, any way you go you can't go wrong with a balm from e.o.s.

e.o.s. Pomegranate Raspberry

When I first fell in love with e.o.s. products over a year and a half ago, I immediately felt the urge to collect them all. Before it was available everywhere like it is now, I know that Pomegranate Raspberry had been only available in a limited edition pack and I was doubtful that I'd ever come across it. I had all the flavors including Passion Fruit and the Alice in Wonderland trio which for some are super hard to find, but I still didn't have the Pomegranate Raspberry. And then, they finally re-released Pomegranate Raspberry and I was able to get my hands on one right away! Finding a new lip balm from one of your favorite companies or finding a lip balm flavor you've been looking for forever is probably one of the best feelings in the world, at least it is for me.

Company: evolution of smooth (e.o.s.)

Flavor: Pomegranate Raspberry. This balm has a pretty light scent overall, but you can definitely tell that there is Raspberry and Pomegranate in this balm. The scent is tart, yet sweet. It's really nice.

Wear: Like all e.o.s. smooth spheres, this one goes on beautifully. I love the shape of the balm and how it glides on my lips. It covers well and makes my lips feel soft.

Packaging: You've all probably seen an e.o.s. balm before, they're those cute little bright colored spheres. I love the way these balms look. Yes, they're harder to carry around in a pants pocket, but they sure are adorable! They still fit in a sweatshirt pocket or a purse no problem. This particular sphere is colored a kind of reddish-pink.

Price: About $3 which is definitely not a bad deal for this balm.

Evolution of Smooth: Alice in Wonderland Limited Edition!

When e.o.s. announced in early September that they were going to be launching a few new limited edition flavors, I nearly fell over. I love e.o.s. balms! (In case you missed my previous post on eos, you can find it here.) Every time they release some new limited editions, I go crazy on the hunt to find them (the last time I found their limited edition pack, I had to travel from Chicago to San Francisco to find it). I was scared I wouldn't be able to find these balms for a long while and that I'd have to wait until they were offered online, but to my surprise, I found them just a week or two later after they were announced!

Company: evolution of smooth (e.o.s.)

Flavors: Blueberry Potion, Sweet Vanilla Nonsense, and Watermelon Wonderland. These balms smell wonderful! The Blueberry Potion is dead on blueberry, no messing around here! It's not crazy sweet, which it shouldn't be because blueberries aren't really all that sweet. The Sweet Vanilla Nonsense is a nice light vanilla, not crazy overpowering. Just light and sweet, it's very nice. The Watermelon Wonderland is soooo wonderful! I find that when lip balms are watermelon flavored, they seem way too artificial and I usually don't like them at all. But this one is very, very much a traditional watermelon scent. It is so delicious! If you've been looking for a good watermelon balm, you've come to the right place!

Wear: These balms go on so smooth! Traditional to eos spheres, these spheres glide gracefully over your lips. They are so fun to put on! I could go around and around my lips all day. They don't go on creamy like my usual balms, but that's okay!

Packaging: You have to have seen an eos sphere at some point, am I right? These cute little spheres are hard to miss! They fit so nicely in your hand, although not so much in your pocket. These spheres are extra cute because since these are Disney's Alice in Wonderland inspired, the usual indentation for your fingers is shaped like Mickey Mouse! Such a cute, subtle touch to the packaging! Also, when you remove the balms from their box, there's a cute little insert on the inside of the box! It has a cute quote on the inside and it was just a nice touch to see on the packaging.

Price: This trio was $7.99 which is totally worth it for three eos balms! That put's them at less than $3 a piece and since these spheres hold more than your usual tube of lip balm, it's a steal!

Cons:

Rating: 5 out of 5 twists. I love eos spheres and will always stand by them! If you haven't tried one of these spheres yet, I'd suggest you do so! This specific trio is available at Target now (I found mine at the end of the shaving cream aisle) and they'll be at Walgreens, Ulta, Target.com, Walmart.com, and Drugstore.com in November.

eos (Evolution of Smooth)

If you've ever stood in line at a Walmart check out you've probably noticed these brightly colored spheres next to the lip balms in the impulse section. I had always noticed them and never knew what they were, simply passed them by every time I saw them. One day I decided to pick one up and realized it was a lip balm! As soon as I picked up one flavor, a friend suggested two other flavors which of course I picked up as well and before you knew it I was completely hooked on these cute little spheres! I now have basically every flavor (including their stick options). It took me a long while and a trip to San Francisco but I have successfully acquired all of the spheres (including some limited edition ones). 

Company: eos (Evolution of Smooth) 

Flavors: Lemon Drop (SPF 15), Summer Fruit, Honeysuckle Honeydew, Sweet Mint, Tangerine (Medicated), Strawberry Sorbet, and Passion fruit. The Lemon Drop flavor is my absolute favorite, I've never had a lemon lip balm before this one and I absolutely loved the flavor and scent. My friends saw me constantly putting it on (the sphere on the inside is no longer a sphere, it was almost completely flat by the end of the first two weeks of owning it). Its sweet and fresh. The Tangerine is my next favorite, you can't really tell that it's Tangerine but there's something about it that I just love. Sweet mint is in 3rd place, I love anything mint so this was definitely going to make my top three. It's a subtle mint and not at all overbearing. The scents on all of these balms are light and fragrant and not at all obnoxious. The rest of the flavors are good as well, not my favorites but still pretty good. Passion fruit and Strawberry Sorbet were the limited edition flavors last summer and I was really excited to find them finally in store in San Francisco but was disappointed that past a nice, light scent there was no flavor and no real "oomph" or anything spectacular about it. They also carry Vanilla Bean, Pomegranate Raspberry, and Sweet Mint in their tube forms. I was not a fan at all of the Vanilla Bean but I didn't mind the Pomegranate Raspberry. It may have been the sticks I received but the scents/flavors didn't compare to the spheres. I'll try them again but for now, I'm sticking to the spheres.

Wear: The sphere takes a second to get warmed up and quickly does and goes on great. It's not a slick application, it's always a little stiff but if it weren't the sphere would most likely not hold its shape at all. The coverage is great, using the sphere is much different from the usual lip balms you find in stores. The round shape of the sphere allows you to place balm where you want it, but once you get to a flat state like mine, balm can stray off the lips but that's only if you decide to forgo maintaining the spherical shape of the balm. My lips always feel really smooth after application and it usually lasts at least an hour.

Packaging: The balms come in cute colorful spheres, each color coded to match their flavor. Very original packaging, not your usual drugstore tube. It definitely makes you stand out but the sphere is harder to carry around than your usual tube if you're trying to fit it into your jeans pocket. What else is there to say, the packaging is awesome and unique!

Price: The price varies depending on where you buy. You can get them at Walmart for about $2.96 which is a great price for what you get, but if you buy from other places you may pay anywhere from $3.25-$4. You also get 0.25oz for around the same price as an average tube of lip balm which is only 0.15oz, which means this balm lasts you longer than your normal lip balm for about the same price. Wonderful!

Overall:
Pros: Packaging, Price, Variety in Flavors, Wear, Long Lasting, Most Organic
Cons: Only one flavor has SPF, Can't fit in jean pocket


Rating: 5 out of 5 twists, there isn't enough good stuff I can say about this balm. If you haven't tried them yet, you are definitely missing out!
