Wrangler's Monthly Wrap Up: February 2013

I cannot believe how fast February has gone by! It feels like January was just a few days ago. I love making these Monthly Wrap Up posts, it helps me remember the highlights from each month. So many lovely things happened in February, here were some of my favorites:

What were some of your favorite things from February?

Aubrey E. Apothecary Part III

I bought these balms shortly after I bought Aubrey's Winter Set, I couldn't help it! Whenever I see new flavors from one of my favorite shops, I have to have them. Yes, I know, I have a problem. And I promise, I'm trying to work on it...really, I am!

Company: Aubrey E. Apothecary

Flavors: Pineapple Pomegranate, Monkey Farts, and Bananas Foster. The Pineapple Pomegranate is a very unique and interesting flavor combination. It smells like sweet pineapple and a little bit of pomegranate, it's tart and sweet. The Monkey Farts is such a yummy, sweet, and fruity balm! It smells just like bananas mixed with other yummy tropical fruits and bubble gum. The Bananas Foster smells of banana and caramel, it's a very sweet and decadent balm.

Wear: These balms go on so smooth! They glide right across my lips, they go on a bit thinner than some of my other balms, but don't let that fool you! It's definitely more than enough to coat your lips in balm.

Packaging: These balms come in lovely oval tubes with clear labels. The labels are very simple with the shop name above the name of the balm which is colored to match the flavor of the balm. Each label has a different color combination which is really nice.

Price: $3.75 per tube which is in the right zone for a good balm.

Overall
Pros: Flavors, Wear, Packaging, Price
Cons:

Rating: 4 out of 5 twists. These balms are pretty great! I definitely like these fruity balms, they're wonderful!

Ingredients: Beeswax, Sweet Almond Oil, Coconut Oil, Avocado Oil, Flavor Oil

Have you tried Aubrey E. Apothecary balms yet? Which flavors are your favorite?

Country Blossom

By now, I'm sure you're all familiar with my lip balm subscription for Country Blossom. If not, you can get caught up on some of the balms I've received each month here, here, here, here, and here. I've really been enjoying my lip balms of the month, it's such a neat way to try out flavors I may have never tried. I'd highly recommend a lip balm of the month club if you're curious, it's a nice surprise to find a new lip balm each month waiting for me in my mailbox. Of course, I was a little impatient one month when I was waiting for the next lip balm of the month because I wanted to try more Country Blossom balms, which is where these little guys come in. I caved and had to try a couple that I knew weren't going to be sent as one of the lip balm of the month balms.

Company: Country Blossom

Flavors: Pina Colada, Apple Pie, Pineapple, and Strawberry Banana. The Pina Colada is a perfect blend of pineapple and coconut, it's very tropical and lovely! Apple Pie is a lip balm flavor I've been trying to get myself to try out more. I mean, I really love apple pies, so why shouldn't I try it in lip balm form? The Apple Pie smells incredible! I smell sweet baked apples, with cinnamon, and a little bit of crust. I didn't think I'd be a fan of this one, but I am! The Pineapple smells lightly of tropical pineapple. Strawberry Banana has always been an iffy flavor combination for me. I don't know why, but ever since I was a child I did not like Strawberry Banana flavored things. Strawberry Banana yogurt? Strawberry Banana smoothie? Forget it. It's odd because I love strawberries and bananas, in fact I often have strawberries and bananas with breakfast. But, just like the apple pie, I'm trying to branch out in flavors I usually wouldn't try. The Strawberry Banana smells mostly of sweet strawberry with just a little bit of banana. The strawberry scent reminds me of some type of candy, perhaps Strawberry Sour Punch Straws (which are my favorite), which I love! Also something that's really unique about this balm is that the center of the balm and the balm around the center are two different colors! The center of the balm is pink!

Wear: These balms, like all of my other Country Blossom balms, go on super creamy and smooth. They cover beautifully and just feel super great on my lips. I've found that even if I'm not a fan of one of the flavors, the consistency of these balms keeps me coming back for more!

Packaging: These come in your average sized lip balm tubes with white labels. The labels have a bright, big,  yellow sunflower on them where the shop's name is placed on. The flavor of the balm is written below and below that is an image that depicts the flavor of the balm . Pretty simple and not cluttered which is really nice.

Price: $3 per tube which is definitely worth it for one of these balms!

Overall
Pros: Flavors, Wear, Packaging, Price
Cons:

Rating: 4 out of 5 twists. I really enjoy my Country Blossom balms, they're just so creamy and wonderful! Megan has so many flavors to choose from, so why not try a couple?

Ingredients: Beeswax, Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Vitamin E Oil, Flavoring Oil

Haul of the Week 2.27.13

This last week I've received so many wonderful little balms in the mail! I've also had some luck finding some special balms in stores. My apartment is looking more and more overrun with lip balm, I need to come up with a new solution on how to store these things! I used to have such an organized system of storing them, but now, after the move, I need a better system. Oh well, that'll be for another day, I suppose! Here's what came in this week:

I'm so happy with everything that came in this week! It's always so hard to choose what to use next!

Did you receive any special goodies this week?

e.o.s. Pomegranate Raspberry

When I first fell in love with e.o.s. products over a year and a half ago, I immediately felt the urge to collect them all. Before it was available everywhere like it is now, I know that Pomegranate Raspberry had been only available in a limited edition pack and I was doubtful that I'd ever come across it. I had all the flavors including Passion Fruit and the Alice in Wonderland trio which for some are super hard to find, but I still didn't have the Pomegranate Raspberry. And then, they finally re-released Pomegranate Raspberry and I was able to get my hands on one right away! Finding a new lip balm from one of your favorite companies or finding a lip balm flavor you've been looking for forever is probably one of the best feelings in the world, at least it is for me.

Company: evolution of smooth (e.o.s.)

Flavor: Pomegranate Raspberry. This balm has a pretty light scent overall, but you can definitely tell that there is Raspberry and Pomegranate in this balm. The scent is tart, yet sweet. It's really nice.

Wear: Like all e.o.s. smooth spheres, this one goes on beautifully. I love the shape of the balm and how it glides on my lips. It covers well and makes my lips feel soft.

Packaging: You've all probably seen an e.o.s. balm before, they're those cute little bright colored spheres. I love the way these balms look. Yes, they're harder to carry around in a pants pocket, but they sure are adorable! They still fit in a sweatshirt pocket or a purse no problem. This particular sphere is colored a kind of reddish-pink.

Price: About $3 which is definitely not a bad deal for this balm.

Overall
Pros: Flavor, Wear, Packaging, Price
Cons:

Rating: 4 out of 5 twists. I have always loved e.o.s. products and this one didn't disappoint. I can't wait to see what else they come up with in the future!

Ingredients: Olive Fruit Oil*, Beeswax*, Coconut Oil*, Jojoba Seed Oil*, Natural Flavor*, Shea Butter*, Stevia Rebaudiana Leaf/Stem Extract*, Pomegranate Seed Oil*, Tocopherol, Sunflower Seed Oil*, Raspberry Leaf Extract*, Linalool. The * indicates an organic ingredient

Which evolution of smooth balm is your favorite?

Mini Monday 2.25.13

I hope you all had a nice and relaxing weekend! I've had so much luck finding lip balms this weekend, I'll share with you on Wednesday just what I found and received in the mail, so it was a pretty good weekend over here. I also hope that Monday is treating you well =). Here's this week's Mini Monday:

Live Beautifully's Juicy Peach & Pear
This balm is so lovely and light! It's very bright and fruity. A wonderful blend of peaches and pears.

ForGoodnessGrape's Cherry Limeade
This balm would be perfect for summer! It's a perfect blend of sweet cherries and sour lime.

Rachel Rene's Pina Colada
Another balm that would be great for summer, this pina colada is a very light coconut and pineapple scent.

Can you tell I'm ready for Summer? Which doesn't really make sense because here in San Francisco it always feels like Spring or Summer, but still!

Balms of the Week 2.24.13

I hope you've all been having a lovely weekend! I've been trying to get outside as much as possible this weekend since the weather has been so nice here. I also hope you were all able to check out my "Best of 2012" post yesterday! It's been so hard to decide which balms to use every day, and not just because it's so hard to keep track of what's been coming in, but also because I've received SO many great balms these last couple of weeks! Here's what I've been using most this week:

Epically Epic's Peach Lemonade
I'm still lovin' this Peach Lemonade balm! I now keep it right by my bedside so it's not even an arm's length away!

Long Winter Farm's Black Currant Walnut
Ever since I knew I would be reviewing these balms from LWF this week, I've been using them like crazy! I forgot how much I loved them!

Long Winter Farm's Gingerbread
The perfect Gingerbread lip balm!

Ripe Shop's Indian Mango
This is an amazing take on a Mango Lassi balm!

Ripe Shop's Watermelon
Not usually a huge fan of watermelon balms, but this one definitely changed my mind. I've actually been using it quite a bit!

Canfield Crafts' Chocolate Peppermint
Still can't get over these little bullets I mean, balms. This one is amazing!!

What balms have you been using this week?
Have a great Sunday!

My Best of 2012 Lip Balms

I know this post is way late (uh, hello Christina, it's February 2013), but I had a reader a little while ago ask me to compile a list of what I thought were the  "Best Balms of 2012". I had actually thought of doing this before, but never followed through on it. But, now that it's been asked of me, I thought I'd give my opinion on what I thought were some of the best balms I used in 2012. Of course, there were many other balms I haven't tried that I'm sure were just as amazing as the ones on my list. I just want to share with you the ones that really stuck out to me and are some of my favorites from last year. I spent a long time compiling this list and then an even longer time trying to locate all of the balms on the list, and then an even longer time creating this post. While going through my giant collection, I came across so many more that I had forgotten about that were simply amazing. It's been such a wonderful experience creating this post for you all! I tried really hard to only include balms I actually reviewed in 2012 (as opposed to received and used in 2012), but a few balms slipped their way into this list. Enjoy!  Oh, also these are in no particular order!

(review, review, I now realize that the Lemon Mint should have been reviewed in my last review of Epically Epic, which falls into this year. Oops! I will have to find a place for that to be reviewed)

(review, review, review, review; Another balm should be included here but I could not find it for the life of me! It was Rachel's Pineapple Cherry, so good!)

Fresh & Natural Co. (Previously Lush Lip Candy)

(review, review, and I realized I haven't even reviewed Cream Soda yet, oops! It's just really good!)

Lemon Citrus

Phew! I hope you all enjoyed that!

I think it's really silly, yet awesome how my blog has changed since I started this in January 2012. It's crazy for me to see the differences in my posts. You could definitely tell I had no idea what I was doing when I first started this blog; I have a better idea of what I want to do with this blog now, but I definitely have a long way to go and a lot more learning to do! I don't know how many of you have actually seen my first reviews, but some of those links will take you to them.

What were your favorite balms of 2012?

Balms I've Got My Eye On 2.22.13

This week seemed to go by so slow and yet so fast at the same time, did it feel that way for you? I don't know if it was because of the four day weekend my boyfriend had last weekend or what, but I'm definitely glad it's Friday! Here's what's catching my attention this week (although I think I've been pretty good about not buying everything I see):

St. Patrick's Day Lip Balm - Vanilla Mint Lip Balm - Unsweetened
(via)
I missed out on a couple of Lippincott Soap's other seasonal/holiday balms and I really don't want to miss out on another!

The Rain Bird Caves' Grandma's Peach Martini
Close Out Sale- Grandma's Peach Martini- beeswax lip balm .15 oz
(via)
I really like the look of their balms and they have some pretty interesting flavors in the shop!

Petite Threla's Maple Cherry
Maple Cherry All Natural Lip Balm - New
(via)
This flavor is brand new and sounds totally awesome! I've never come across a Petite Threla balm I didn't like, so this one is definitely on my wishlist!

What balms are catching your eye this week?
Happy Friday!
