Balms of the Week 6.30.13

Happy Sunday, everyone! I hope you're all having a wonderful day! Rob and I are headed to the Pride parade here in SF today so we're pretty excited about that. I'm also taking Rob to his first ever Bikram Yoga class today, so we're a bit nervous and excited about that as well. He's never done yoga before and the last time I had him try a new fitness class (CrossFit) he ended up fainting and I had to catch him! (That's right, this girl's got some muscle on her.) Anyway, I've been using a ton of balm this week because I've been walking out and about and I've needed to wear tons for Bikram because for some reason my lips get really dry while I'm doing it. Here are the lovely balms I've kept by my side this week:

Vintage Sister's Pina Colada
The Pina Colada balm is amazing, it lasts through eating and drinking and through a good deal of sweating too!

Upstate Herb Works' Porch Party
Porch Party is such a lovely balm for summer, it smells incredible and goes on nice and thick for some added protection.

Long Winter Farm's Watermelon
I've been obsessed with eating watermelon lately, and when I'm not eating it, I'm using this balm!

Long Winter Farm's Blood Cherry
Still one of the best balms I've ever used, it's just so amazing!

Okay, I guess I wasn't using a TON of balm, but I was using a bunch of different flavors!
What balms have you been using this week?

I hope you enjoy your Sunday!

Balms I've Got My Eye On 6.28.13

Happy Friday, everyone! I couldn't wait for this week to be over, I know I'm not working or anything, so everyday should feel like a weekend, but it doesn't. I get so exhausted and I'm just looking forward to sleeping in maybe tomorrow and taking it somewhat easy this weekend with Rob as we try to finalize things before we move in about 3 weeks. Anyway, we've been trying to save money lately because we're paying two rents this next month, so I haven't been able to buy as much balm as I usually would, but that doesn't mean I don't have my eye on a few this week!

Vintage Sister's Bahama Mama Trio
(via)
This trio comes with Blue Hawaii (orange, coconut, pineapple), Island Delight (pineapple and tangerine), and Mango Tango (mango, peach, and papaya). Each balm sounds seriously amazing!

Petite Threla's Pineapple Mint
Pineapple Mint All Natural Lip Balm - New
(via)
I'm not sure if I've already posted this balm before, but oh well! I still haven't gotten my hands on this balm and it sounds perfect for summer. Tropical pineapple and refreshing mint? How can you go wrong with that?!

Ripe Shop's Tangerine Currant
Tangerine Currant Lip Balm - Vitamin E, Coconut Oil, Beeswax
(via)
This balm sounds absolutely wonderful and you guys know that I can't stay away from Ripe Shop balms!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Vintage Sister's Lip Lickers

I had been recommended balms from Vintage Sister for a super long time before I finally decided to take the plunge and try them. I don't know why it always takes me so long to try balms from a new shop, but I'm always so glad I did! I've never had balms in a slider tin before, so there was definitely a novelty effect going on (I couldn't stop opening and closing them).

Company: Vintage Sister

Flavors: Flirtini, Pina Colada, and Shangri-La Shea Butter Relief with Lemon Essential Oil. The Flirtini has such a lovely light fruity scent. It's hard to pick out the individual fruity scents, but this balm is seriously wonderful without having an overpowering scent. The Pina Colada is perfect for summer! This balm is so tropical and wonderful, it's a combination of warm, tropical coconut and sweet, ripe pineapple. The Shangri-La Shea Butter Relief with Lemon Essential Oil has an incredible bright, refreshing lemon scent. It's just like I cut up a lemon and took a whiff, it's awesome!

Wear: The balms in the slider tins have a wonderful consistency, you apply them with your finger and a little goes a long way! They're creamy and make my lips feel smooth. The Shangi-La balm (in the tube) goes on beautifully as well! It's so smooth and creamy, it just melts right in to my lips and just like the slider tins, a little goes a long way!

Packaging: As I've mentioned, the Flirtini and Pina Colada come in little slider tins which are seriously cute and different from usual lip balm pots or lip balm tubes. The Shangri-La balm comes in an oval twist-up tube. All of the labels have a cartoony image on it and are brightly colored, I think it really keeps the design cute and fun!

Price: $3.95 for the slider tins and $4 for the Shangri-La balm, both are fairly priced, they're wonderful!

Overall
Pros: Flavors, Wear, Packaging, Price
Cons:

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 twists. I'm so glad I finally tried some balms from Vintage Sister, I need to stop waiting so long to try balms from shops that are recommended to me! I'd definitely recommend trying some Vintage Sister balms.

Ingredients:
Slider Tins-Soybean Oil, Beeswax, Sunflower Seed Oil, Cocoa Seed butter, Shea Butter, Vitamin E, Natural Additive (as sweetener), Color, Flavor
Shangri-La-Shea Butter, Apricot Kernel, Yellow Beeswax, Lemon Peel Oil

Have you tried Vintage Sister balms before? What are your favorite flavors?

Live Beautifully Whipped Lip Butters Part II

It's been a while since my last Live Beautifully Whipped Lip Butter review, so I thought it was about time I posted one! What I love most about Live Beautifully is that they have such a wide variety of lip products to choose from (lip balms, lip balm pots, lip jellies, and whipped lip butters) and that each lip product line has some pretty amazing and really unique scents.

Company: Live Beautifully

Flavors: Pineapple & Vanilla and Butterscotch & Vanilla. The Pineapple & Vanilla has a light pineapple scent combined with the creamy scent of vanilla. The Butterscotch & Vanilla has a rich butterscotch scent combined with creamy vanilla, it's really wonderful!

Wear: These have such a lovely consistency to them! They're whipped and creamy and go on just beautifully. They make my lips feel soft and protected. They go on wonderfully!

Packaging: These whipped lip butters come in little pots with screw top lids. I love the way Aaron and Nicole designed their labels, they're just so simple and polished looking. Each pot has a different colored label according to the flavor of the balm.

Price: $6 per pot which is kind of steep for me (since my upper limit on most products is $4), but you do get twice as much product so it's worth it.

Overall
Pros: Flavors, Wear, Packaging, Price
Cons:

Rating: 5 out of 5 twists. These Whipped Lip Butters were pretty wonderful, although I do have to admit, my Lime & Vanilla Whipped Lip Butter is still my absolute favorite!

Ingredients: Shea Butter, Cocoa Butter, Grapeseed Oil, Essential Oils, Natural Flavor Oils

Have you tried these Live Beautifully Whipped Lip Butters before? What did you think of them? Which flavors are your favorite?

Epically Epic Part XI

Since my haul this week is so short and I didn't have posts for you on Monday or Tuesday, I thought that I'd include a review in today's line up! I hope that's okay with all of you =). It hasn't been too long since my last Epically Epic review, so I hope you enjoy looking at some more of Allison's wonderful balms!

Company: Epically Epic

Flavors: Banana Split and Shamrock Shake. The Banana Split smells absolutely incredible! You can definitely tell that there's banana and ice cream in this balm! It's just wonderful! I'll be honest, I've never had a Shamrock Shake before, I don't know why but they seem kind of weird and gross to me (probably because I don't really eat fast food, so a trip to McDonald's usually isn't on my list of places I like to grab something to eat). But, if Shamrock Shakes are anything like this balm, I may be missing out on something pretty tasty! This balm is super minty combined with creamy vanilla, it smells absolutely wonderful!

Wear: These balms go on sooo smooth and slick. One swipe on top and one on bottom is all I need to get proper coverage. These balms aren't as creamy as my usual balms, they're a little more on the oily side but it's definitely not a problem. These balms have a wonderful consistency and go on beautifully without being too thick or too thin.

Packaging: These come in your average sized lip balm tubes with labels that are colored to match the flavor of the balm. The shop name and the flavor of the balm is placed right on front of the tube which makes it super easy to identify which balm you're reaching for.

Price: $3.75 per tube which is totally worth it for one of Allison's wonderful balms!

Overall
Pros: Flavors, Wear, Packaging, Price
Cons:

Rating: 5 out of 5 twists. Okay, seriously, this is my 11th review on Epically Epic balms, obviously I love them. If you haven't tried them yet, you're missing out! Allison has so many amazing flavors, you really can't go wrong with any of them!

Ingredients: Pistachio Butter, Jojoba, Sweet Almond Oil, Castor Oil, Vitamin E, Candelilla Wax, Flavor, Natural Sweetener

Have you tried these balms from Epically Epic yet? What did you think of them?

Haul of the Week 6.26.13

Hi all! I'm so sorry I've been absent the last two days, I was just so busy doing things with my friend who came into town to visit us that I didn't have time to get on the computer at all. Then I was stressing out about all this stuff that's coming up with our move in less than a month and I wasn't sleeping well and I ended up just being so exhausted the last two days. I'm hoping to be back to my normal self by the end of the week! Anyway, my haul this week is super small, but the balms are just wonderful!

I also just ordered the five new balms Ashley posted and I can't wait to try them! Seriously, she's been on such a roll with these new flavors, I can't get enough of them!

What balms did you receive this week? Did you get anything that totally blew your mind?
Happy Wednesday!

Balms I've Got My Eye On 6.21.13

Hi all! I hope you're all having a wonderful day so far, and that the rest of your day passes by quickly and flawlessly. Today my best friend is flying in to visit us and I'm so excited to go pick her up! She's only here for the weekend so we have to make the most of our time together. I apologize if posts are late or absent the next couple of days, I haven't seen her in six months so I really want to spend as much time with her as I can! Anyway, to distract myself from counting down the minutes until I get to see her, I've been keeping my eyes on these lovely balms:

Coquette Lip Balm - One Tube Beeswax Shea Cocoa Butter Jojoba
(via)
All of the new flavors I've been trying from LWF have been absolutely phenomenal, I have this one in a perfume oil and would love to get the lip balm to coordinate!

Orange Thyme's Sugared Grapefruit
Sugared Grapefruit- Lip Balm
(via)
I think this is one of the few Orange Thyme flavors I don't already have in my collection, I better get on that!

Bag Lunch's Salt Water Taffy
Salt Water Taffy Lip Balm by Bag Lunch
(via)
This new flavor sounds super interesting, I'd love to try it out!

Tracey Gurley Bath and Body

I'm really excited to share with you my balms from Tracey Gurley Bath and Body today. I had been meaning to try balms from Tracey's shop for such a long time and only recently did I finally do it! These are some pretty wonderful balms!

Company: Tracey Gurley Bath and Body

Flavors: White Chocolate Raspberry, Blueberry Cheesecake, and Raspberry Lemonade. The White Chocolate Raspberry is such a decadent balm! It's a rich scent of rich, creamy white chocolate with sweet, yet tart raspberries. It's just wonderful! The Blueberry Cheesecake is always a balm I'm iffy about, I don't know why but blueberry cheesecake balms don't sit well with me. Regardless, this balm has a lovely blueberry scent with just a hint of creaminess. The Raspberry Lemonade has got to be my absolute favorite balm from the bunch. A perfect sweet and sour lemonade scent combined with a sweet and slightly tart raspberry scent, it's just amazing! Absolutely perfect for summer!

Wear: These balms go on super smooth and a little thick, which I like! It really makes my lips smooth and fills in the cracks that form when my lips are too chapped. My lips are super soft and moisturized after wearing one of these balms!

Packaging: These balms come in oval tubes with really lovely labels. The labels each have a graphic image in the background that represents the flavor of the balm and the flavor of the balm is written clearly on front. The labels really make each balm unique and easy to identify.

Price: $4 per tube which is totally worth it!

Overall
Pros: Flavors, Wear, Packaging, Price
Cons:

Rating: 5 out of 5 twists. I'd definitely recommend trying some balms from Tracey's shop, if you haven't tried some already (or even if you have!). The flavors were executed so wonderfully and the consistency of each balm was just wonderful.

Ingredients:
Raspberry Lemonade: shea butter, candelilla wax, aloe butter, avocado butter, essential oils of lemon and litsea cubeba, flavor oil, and vitamin e
White Chocolate Raspberry & Blueberry Cheesecake: shea butter, candelilla wax, aloe butter, avocado butter, flavor oil, and vitamin e

Have you tried balms from Tracey Gurley Bath and Body? What did you think of them?

Ripe Shop Part IV

Hi all! I hope you're having a wonderful week so far! It's almost the weekend and I really can't wait for tomorrow to be here! My best friend is flying in to visit us for the weekend, so we're really excited to have her here. Anyway, it's been about a month since my last Ripe Shop review, so I figured it was just about time for another one!

Company: Ripe Shop

Flavors: Vanilla Bourbon, Spanish Granada, Guava, and Mexican Horchata. The Vanilla Bourbon was definitely a flavor I didn't think I'd like, but man am I glad I tried it! It has a rich vanilla scent with an extra sweetness. The Spanish Granada has a sweet, candy-like pomegranate scent with a slight orange scent. The Guava has a sweet, tropical scent; it smells incredible! It's fruity and delicious! The Mexican Horchata has a rich delicious scent. It smells just like vanilla, rice milk, and cinnamon. Sooo yummy!

Wear: These balms melt right onto my lips, as soon as they make contact with my lips it melts! These balms are a bit delicate so don't go crazy and press super hard on them! They glide on so smooth and go on super easy, however they are a little slicker than some of my normal balms but they provide wonderful coverage.

Packaging: These come in oval tubes with white labels. The labels have the name of the shop and the flavor of the balm right on the front which makes it very easy to read and identify which balm you're reaching for.

Price: $4 per tube which is definitely worth it for one of these balms!

Overall
Pros: Flavors, Wear, Packaging, Price
Cons:

Rating: 5 out of 5 twists. Each of these flavors was really amazing. I've never been disappointed with a Ripe Shop balm before, I'd definitely recommend trying at least a few!

Ingredients: Sweet Almond Oil, Coconut Oil, Beeswax, Avocado Oil, Cocoa & Shea Butters, Vitamin E, Flavor

Have you tried these balms from Ripe Shop before? What did you think of them?

Haul of the Week 6.19.13

Hi all! I've been having the worst time since we got back from Chicago, and it was only about a day and a half ago! I've literally been having the worst luck since we got back and I just don't want to do anything anymore! I don't mean to vent, but I just had the worst day yesterday! I'm hoping today is a better day for me, and I hope you'll also have a wonderful day! I hope by starting your day off with a gander at some wonderful balms I got this week, your day will continue to get even better!

What did you receive this week? Anything super amazing?
Happy Wednesday!

Live Beautifully: Sweet Cobbler, Fruited Tea, and more!

It's been a little while since my last Live Beautifully review, so I figured it was about time for one! I know in the picture there are lip balm pots, but those will be included in a later review. I didn't want to make the review toooo long. Anyway, I hope you enjoy!

Company: Live Beautifully

Flavors: Warm Peach Cobbler, Warm Cherry Cobbler, Warm Pear Cobbler, Raspberry Iced Tea, Blueberry Mint Tea, Peach Iced Tea, and Juicy Peach & Pear. The Warm Peach Cobbler smells just like warm baked peaches! The Cherry Cobbler smells just as you would expect, warm cherries baked to perfection. The Pear Cobbler is just like the others, a perfect anthology of warm baked fruits! This one has the sweet scent of baked pears (almost put 'bears' there instead, yikes!). The Raspberry Iced Tea smells incredible! Ripe raspberries and refreshing iced tea, it really makes my mouth water! The Blueberry Mint Tea reminds me of those scented markers I had as a kid, it smells just like blueberries with cool mint. I used to love those scented markers, and especially the blueberry one! This balm is just wonderful! The Peach Iced Tea smells just like a tall glass of refreshing peach iced tea. The Juicy Peach & Pear is such a unique lip balm flavor, it smells of ripe peaches and sweet pears.

Wear: These balms go on very smooth. The consistency may be a bit thinner than some of my other balms, but it's definitely a welcomed change! It's great, lightweight protection for my lips!

Packaging: These come in your average sized lip balm tubes with labels I really love! Each label has a color scheme to match the flavor of the balm, the name of the shop, the flavor of the balm, and a description of the flavor of the balm. They're really wonderful.

Price: $4 per tube or $10 for the whole anthology (3 balms). Definitely worth it for one of these balms!

Overall
Pros: Flavors, Wear, Packaging, Price
Cons:

Rating: 5 out of 5 twists. Live Beautifully balms are always some of my favorite balms! There are so many flavors to choose from and they're all so unique and interesting, not to mention wonderful!

Ingredients: Beeswax, Cocoa Butter, Shea Butter, Mango Butter, Apricot Kernel Oil, Grapeseed Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Macadamia Nut Oil, Coconut Oil, Natural Flavors & Oils

Have you tried these Live Beautifully balms before? What did you think of them?

Filthy Farmgirl

I want to apologize for not having these reviews up sooner, last night our flight got delayed (of course, it happens to me every time I fly) and we didn't get in until about 1AM. I was just too exhausted to get any posts written last night. I know some of you have been waiting for this review since I got back from Hawaii, and I'm happy to tell you that the day you've been waiting for is here!

Company: Filthy Farmgirl

Flavors: Nutty Almond, Coconut Lime, Hawaiian Vanilla, Creamy Coconut, Cinnamon Peppermint, Banana, Chocolate, and Orange Raspberry. The Nutty Almond smells sweetly of almond, it really reminds me of the way amaretto smells. It's lovely! The Coconut Lime smells divine! It's a wonderful combination of warm, tropical coconut and tangy lime! The Hawaiian Vanilla is such a rich and decadent vanilla scent, it really kind of blew me away! The Creamy Coconut is a sweet, tropical coconut scent. The Cinnamon Peppermint smells incredible! An amazing blend of spicy cinnamon and cool and refreshing peppermint. It smells like the most delicious stick of gum ever! The Banana has a wonderful banana scent. It's not candy-like or super sweet like some of my other banana balms, it's more like a true banana scent. The Chocolate smells like a rich, decadent chocolate cake. It makes me crave a piece of cake! If you're a chocolate lover, this is definitely a balm you don't want to miss! The Orange Raspberry is probably my absolute favorite scent! It's so perfect for summer! It's sweet citrus combined with a true, ripe raspberry scent. It's seriously amazing!

Wear: These balms go on soooo smooth and creamy! They're simply amazing! They cover my lips beautifully without using too much product. Two swipes on top and bottom is more than enough to provide wonderful coverage.

Packaging: These balms come in black oval tubes with really adorable labels. Each label has a different image on it that matches the flavor/theme of the balm. They also have a retro feel to them which is also kind of wonderful.

Price: I think I paid around $4 for each of these, which was definitely worth it for each and every one of these balms!

Overall
Pros:FLAVORS, wear, packaging, price, did I mention the flavors?
Cons:

Rating: 5 out of 5 twists. These balms were seriously out of this world wonderful. Every flavor was incredible! I'd definitely recommend trying at least a couple of these wonderful balms!

Ingredients: Each balm has slightly different ingredients based on their flavor, but their base ingredients are: Sweet Almond Oil, Avocado Oil, Coconut Oil, Hawaiian Beeswax, Cocoa Seed Butter, and Shea Butter.

Have you tried Filthy Farmgirl balms before? Which flavors are your favorite?

Mini Monday 6.17.13

Hi all! I hope you had a wonderful weekend and a great start to your week! We're leaving Chicago tonight and we really don't want to, so we're going to try to do as many things as possible with my mom and sister before we leave. Today I'm also doing my first Bikram Yoga class and I'm super nervous and excited about it! It's been a few years since I've done yoga, and I've never done Bikram before so it should be interesting! Anyway, here's this week's Mini Monday!

Long Winter Farm's Strawberry Shortcake
This balm is probably THE most delicious balm I've ever smelled! I don't even like strawberry shortcake, but holy cow, this is amazing. Sweet strawberry, fluffy cake, and tons of cream make this balm absolutely mouthwatering! Rob almost stole it from me since strawberry shortcake is his absolute favorite dessert.

Epically Epic's Cranberry Lemonade
I really love Cranberry Lemonade and this balm definitely hits the spot! Sweet cranberries and refreshing lemonade is exactly what I get from this balm.

Live Beautifully's Toasted Banana
This balm has a wonderful banana scent to it with a hint of dark cocoa. It's really amazing!

There you have it! This week's Mini Monday was full of mouthwatering balms, I hope I didn't make you too hungry!
Happy Monday!

Balms of the Week 6.16.13

Hi all! I hope you all have been having a wonderful weekend so far! Rob and I are now in the Chicago area spending tons of time with my family this weekend so we're having a ton of fun. We're really sad that it's coming to a close soon, so we're trying to make the best out of every minute we have with them! It's also been really nice here this weekend, so we've been trying to get outside as much as possible. I haven't been using too many balms the last two days, I think it's because we've just been SO busy running from one thing to the next that I haven't had any pockets or a purse to keep my balm nearby. But this week I've definitely had a few staples with me, here they are:

Long Winter Farm's Blood Cherry

Long Winter Farm's White Almond

Filthy Farmgirl's Orange Raspberry Smoochie

There you have it! I told you I haven't been using too much balm lately, but I've definitely been using these ones a ton!
Have a beautiful Sunday!

Guest Review: Mirasol Farm

Hi all! I'm super excited to share with you a review from one of my readers, Jean. Jean was nice enough to send me a guest review to use while I'm attending a conference this week. I also want to apologize in advance because tonight we just got so swamped after the conference, that I'm barely staying awake right now to complete this post (we were there for 8 hours plus an hour of travel each way). I won't be able to write a second review for you tonight, but I'll try to make it up to you guys and fit another review in for you somewhere! Anyway, I'm so grateful that Jean was able to come to my rescue this week with this guest review. Jean said that she couldn't resist reviewing one of her favorite Etsy shops and that aside from lip balm she's also a bath & body fanatic. She likes Mirasol Farm because for her it's one-stop shopping.

Company:
Mirasol Farm

Flavors: Vanilla, Earl Grey, Sweet Orange, and Double Mint. Vanilla smells just like the vanilla extract you can buy in the baking section of a supermarket, I used to love to open the bottle we had in our kitchen growing up to get a whiff. Earl Grey is a blend of vanilla, orange and bergamot, I was expecting a tea scent but because of the vanilla it smells like an orange creamsicle, which in my opinion is even better! Sweet Orange smells like a glass of orange juice, more sweet than tart. This one and Double Mint I keep at work when I need a pick me up. Double Mint is a blend of spearmint and peppermint, which is my favorite combination of mints. The two together really make a mint flavor "pop".

Wear: These medium-weight balms go on very smoothly and have a creamy feel. With the mint flavor there is a little tingle but not an uncomfortable amount, and for me it adds to its ability to wake me up when I'm feeling a little post-lunch drowsiness coming on.

Packaging: These balms come in clear round tubes with labels with stripes of color to match the flavor of the balm. The name of the flavor is stated on front, so if you can't distinguish them by color, you can easily determine which balm you're reaching for. With the sunflower background graphic on all flavors the labels are very simple and to the point.

Price: $3.50 per balm, or $10 for 3, and shipping is only $1.69. And I usually receive an extra bonus balm as well!

Overall
Pros: Flavors, Wear, Packaging, Price
Cons:

Rating: 5 out of 5 twists for formula, flavor strength, and organic ingredients. For anyone familiar with The Simple Siren, these balms have a similar flavor strength to those. If you use other handmade bath and body products like lotion, body cream, and soaps, they are highly scented as well.

Ingredients: organic cocoa butter, unrefined organic beeswax, organic sunflower oil, organic coconut oil, lanolin, essential oils, vitamin E.
Essential oils for each flavor are: Vanilla - vanilla essential oil, Earl Grey - vanilla, sweet orange, and bergamot essential oils, Sweet Orange - blood orange essential oil, and Double Mint - spearmint and peppermint essential oils.

Thank you again, Jean, for providing us with such a wonderful review! I hope you all enjoyed reading! Have a wonderful day!

Haul of the Week 6.12.13

Hi all! I'm sorry I've been so absent lately, we're attending a convention in Los Angeles this week and I haven't been able to get on the internet or any service on my phone. I really didn't think I'd have a haul for you this week, but at the last minute (and I mean seriously as I was rushing out the door to grab a taxi on the way to the airport I stopped to check the mail) I received a bunch of packages. I'm really enjoying all of these balms and I'm excited to share them with you!

Of course, when I saw the LWF lip balm yearly subscription, I had to sign up for it immediately. Man, am I glad I did! These balms for June are wonderful!

I had to take advantage of the Buy 3, Get 1 Free sale Live Beautifully had last week!

You already know how I am about Epically Epic's limited edition balms, I absolutely have to have all of them! They're just so wonderful!

Lisa surprised me with these balms this week, I had no idea she was sending anything my way! Thank you, Lisa, for these lovely balms!

Uh, has anyone else found these wonderful new balms from ChapStick? I think that it's really cool that each end has a different flavor of balm!

There you have it! My haul for this week!
I hope you're all having a lovely week so far!
Happy Wednesday!

The Simple Siren Part IV

It's been a while since my last Simple Siren review, so I hope you're all looking forward to this one! I've got some interesting flavors in this review since Kat was kind enough to throw in two freebies in my order!

Company: The Simple Siren

Flavors: Mocha Latte, Le Lemonade, Melody, and Ginger. The Mocha Latte is definitely a coffee lovers dream! I'm not a huge fan of coffee because, well, I have a ton of energy naturally and when I'm given coffee I kind of go crazy and bounce off the walls. I had received this balm as a freebie in a previous order which I gifted to someone, so I had to order myself another one. The one I had previously smelled amazing, like super chocolatey coffee. The one I have now smells much more like coffee with a little bit of chocolate, it really is a rich lovely coffee scent. The Le Lemonade smells incredible! It smells just like fresh squeezed lemons with just a little bit of sugar, it really makes me crave some lemonade! It also kind of reminds me of lemon water since it's not crazy sweet like some lemonade balms, which happens to be my favorite drink! The Melody smells of sweet lemon with just a little bit of vanilla. Rob thinks that it smells more like lemon and cake, either way it's wonderful! Now, I'm not a fan of ginger, I only like a little bit in my food, but otherwise, I'm not really a fan. I still wanted to give this balm a shot though! The Ginger smells EXACTLY like ginger, its warm and spicy and pungent. If you like ginger, you'll like this balm, but since I'm definitely someone who doesn't like a lot of ginger, this balm was not for me.

Wear: These balms go on sooooo smooth and creamy, you definitely don't have to force these balms, because if you do you'll end up with balm everywhere! These balms melt right on contact with your lips, so a little pressure definitely goes a long way. These balms are very soft and delicate which makes them go on really easily, but it's also really easy to get balm where you don't want it to be. The Mocha Latte is a scrub which goes on easily and makes my lips nice and smooth!

Packaging: These balms come in your average sized lip balm tubes, except for Melody which comes in a thin lip balm tube (similar to Upstate Herb Works' Porch Party or Softlips tubes). They all have earthy and rustic (is that the right word?) looking labels, they're very crafty looking! The labels are a thicker paper which  can definitely withstand some wear and tear.

Price: $4.25 to $4.75 which is higher than I'd like to pay for a lip balm, but there's usually a coupon code which brings the price down a bit. These balms are organic and natural though which is why they cost more than other balms.

Overall
Pros: Flavors, Wear, Packaging, Price
Cons:

Rating: 5 out of 5 twists. These balms were wonderful, even if I didn't like some of the scents because well I'm just not a fan of them, that doesn't mean these balms aren't really fabulous! Because they definitely are!

Bag Lunch, Take Two!

I hope that you all enjoyed my last review on some lovely Bag Lunch balms. Shortly after I placed my first order, I had to place a second because I just fell so in love with them! Plus, there was a good sale going on and you all know how I can't resist those (although I'm really trying hard to!). Without further adieu...

Company: Bag Lunch

Flavors: Slice of Birthday Cake, Orange Cream Pop, and Glass of Lemonade. The Slice of Birthday Cake smells just like delicious vanilla cake with a ton of sugary sweet frosting. It makes me crave a slice of cake! Man I haven't had cake in forever, but this sure does come close! The Orange Cream Pop smells like I just opened a can of SunKist and someone plopped a scoop and cold and delicious vanilla ice cream. It's super orangey which is complimented by a wonderful vanilla scent, it's really lovely and much brighter than other orange citrus balms I have. The Lemonade is a wonderful classic lemonade balm, it's sweet and a little sour and of course smells like lemons! Obviously, I would be a fan because I absolutely love anything with lemon in it (you should see how much lemon I put in everything we cook). But, seriously, if you're a lemonade fan, you'll be a fan of this balm.

Wear: These balms definitely go on thicker than your average balm, so one or two swipes on top and bottom is more than enough. These go on very smooth and are only very slightly sticky, not enough for me to complain about it, you know what I mean? All in all, consistency is great!

Packaging: These come in  your average sized lip balm tubes with super bright and fun labels that make it super easy to differentiate between your balms! Really makes me happy every time I reach for one of my Bag Lunch balms, they're just so unique in how they pop! The flavor of the balm is also right in front in big letters as well as the shop's logo. Really simple and to the point label design, can't complain!

Price: $4 per tube which is at my upper limit for how much I'm willing to spend on a balm, but these are well worth it! Even if only to try a few flavors. I was lucky enough to get these balms for about $2 on sale I believe, which was definitely a steal!

Overall
Pros: Flavors, Wear, Packaging, Price
Cons:

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 twists. These balms were great! There's a nice variety of flavors, so there has got to be a flavor for everyone!

Mini Monday 6.10.13

Happy Monday, everyone! I hope you're having a wonderful day so far! Rob and I are headed to Los Angeles today to attend a convention this week, so we're pretty excited about that. Do you have anything fun planned for this week? If not, I hope these balms brighten up your week a little bit:

Orange Thyme's Raspberry Sorbet
This balm is probably one of my new favorite balms from Orange Thyme! It's so sweet and fruity yet light, it's definitely going to be one of the ones I carry with me this summer.

Long Winter Farm's Blood Cherry
Okay, this balm totally blows my favorite LWF balm out of the water (but, not by much, since my favorite LWF is Chocolate Orange). This balm is amazing, seriously, just get it, you won't regret it! It's delicious chocolate combined with sweet oranges AND cherries. Seriously delicious and decadent stuff here guys!

Epically Epic's Lilikoi Orange
Another balm that's going to be great for this summer, this Lilikoi Orange balm is tropical and all kinds of wonderful. It smells of tropical Passion Fruit combined with sweet, orange citrus!

There you have it! I hope you enjoyed this week's Mini Monday!
Have a wonderful day!

Balms of the Week 6.9.13

Hi all! I hope you're having a wonderful weekend so far! It's been pretty hectic around here this weekend since we're going to Los Angeles tomorrow until Thursday evening, and then flying to Chicago Thusday evening until next Monday evening, and then flying back to San Francisco! Then after our week of travel, my best friend is coming for a visit! I haven't had anyone come visit me yet, so I'm really excited to see her. Anyway! As you may have guessed, I've been packing and with packing one of the hardest things to do is figure out which balms to bring along! I've been using these balms all week, so maybe they'll make the cut and come with me!
Long Winter Farm's Blood Cherry

Long Winter Farm's White Almond

Long Winter Farm's Cherry Mint

Long Winter Farm's Watermelon

Epically Epic's Lilikoi Orange

Filthy Farmgirl's Orange Raspberry Smoochie

What balms have you been using this week? Have you discovered any new favorites?
Have a beautiful Sunday!
