Wrangler's Monthly Wrap Up: May 2013

Is it seriously the end of May already? I cannot believe how fast this year is going! I thought that with not working or going to school that these last couple of months would have gone so slow since I'm very much a busybody, but it's been quite the opposite! Somehow I'm still not finding enough time in the day and I'm not even doing anything really super important (well, still trying to figure out what I really want to do, working out, trying to find a new apartment, plus all the housework I do around here [how can two people and two cats be so messy?] etc). Anyway, this month was filled with SO much and SO many good balms that it was hard to pick out some of my favorite posts, I tried my best! Here are some of my most favorite parts of May:

Phew! There you have it! There were SO many parts of May that were my favorite, what were some of your's?

Have a wonderful Friday!

Long Winter Farm Part VIII

Every time I see new flavors from Long Winter Farm, I just have to have them! I may or may not have bought every new flavor she had in her shop last week with record speed. I also bought 4 of her new perfume oils and I'm SO in love with them, I can't stop using them! Anyway, onto the review!

Company: Long Winter Farm

Flavors: Banana Nut and Gooseberry. The Banana Nut smells super nutty with just a touch of banana. If you're not a huge fan of banana, but are a huge fan of nutty balms, this is definitely one for you to try! Among other things, I've never had a Gooseberry before so I didn't really know what to expect with this balm. This balm has a sweet yet tart berry scent to it. It makes me really want to try gooseberries!

Wear: These balms were a bit more firm than my usual Long Winter Farm balms, but after a little bit of warming up they still went on smooth and creamy. This formula really makes my lips feel wonderful!

Packaging: These balms come in lovely oval tubes and have very simple labels on them. I love the way LWF balms look; I love that the flavor is big and easily seen on the front of the tube and that the bars of color on the top and bottom of the tube add something different to each tube.

Price: $4 per tube which I'm more than willing to pay for one of Amanda's amazing balms!

Overall
Pros: Flavors, Wear, Packaging, Price
Cons:

Rating: 5 out of 5 twists. Of course, I'm always going to love Long Winter Farm balms. If you haven't tried them yet, you need to! There are so many amazing and unique flavors to try, there's have to be a balm for everyone!

Ingredients: Natural Beeswax, Sweet Almond, Grapeseed & Jojoba Oils, Cocoa & Unrefined Shea Butters, Vitamin E, Flavor Oil

Have you tried these Long Winter Farm balms yet? What did you think of them?

The Gnarly Whale Part III

Okay, so by now you must know how I can't help buying new flavors from my favorite shops, right? Well, when The Gnarly Whale came out with SO many new flavors a couple of months ago, I knew I would be going a little bit crazy on new flavors and I definitely did! I also bought myself some more of their amazing hair detangler, that stuff saves my hair! I may not have curly or frizzy hair, but my hair is super long and tangles really easily and their hair detangler makes it so easy to run a brush through my long locks! Anway, on to the new flavors!

Company: The Gnarly Whale

Flavors: Tropical Smoothie, Cherry Limeaid, Cherry Cola, Cranberry Mist, Vanilla Cola, Strawberry Lemonade, Raspberry Lemonade, Cherry Cake, and Coconut Banana. The Tropical Smoothie does indeed, remind me of the tropics. I can't pick out all of the scents in it, but there's definitely coconut in this one. The Cherry Limeaid is a perfect combination of sweet cherries and sour lime, you definitely get a whiff of the lime before the cherry, but then you find the cherry. For some reason though, it kind of smells like Dr. Pepper LipSmackers to me haha. The Cherry Cola smells like sweet cola and ripe cherries, this one also smells like Dr. Pepper LipSmackers to me. Maybe it's the cherry flavor they use, but these both remind me of Dr. Pepper LipSmackers! Which is totally not a problem because I really love Dr. Pepper LipSmackers! The Cranberry Mist smells just like lemon-lime soda with just a splash of cranberry juice! It smells wonderful, airy, and light! The Vanilla Cola smells wonderful! If you're a fan of vanilla Coke, you'll be a fan of this balm, it's the perfect blend of vanilla and sweet cola! The Strawberry Lemonade is going to be perfect for summer! I love lemonade balms and especially when it's warmer out and this one definitely fits the bill. The scent of sweet and slightly sour lemonade and ripe strawberries makes this balm wonderful. The Raspberry Lemonade is no different, other than being ripe raspberry instead of strawberry, it smells incredible! Seriously, both these lemonade balms are amazing! The Cherry Cake (okay, I may have been going on a crazy cherry binge when I bought these balms) smells like sweet cherry and fluffy cake, this one does not remind of me of Dr. Pepper LipSmackers just in case you were wondering! The Coconut Banana is another balm that's going to be great for summer, it smells of warm and tropical coconut combined with a sweet and ripe banana. One of my most favorite combinations!

Wear: These balms glide on smooth, some were a little more firm than others but they warmed up quickly and proceeded to go on smooth. These balms go on a little thinner than my usual balms, but they still cover just as well!

Packaging: These balms come in your average sized lip balm tubes. The tubes are black with white labels which have a very clean look to them. The only thing that I wish were different about the tubes is maybe that the rectangle that the flavor of the balm is placed was colored differently for each flavor because it takes me a little while to find the balm I'm looking for since I have SO many Gnarly Whale balms. I'm sure I'm probably one of the few who have this problem, but still!

Price: $3.50 per tube which is totally worth it for one of these balms!

Overall
Pros: Flavors, Wear, Packaging, Price
Cons:

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 twists. These balms were great! I'm really glad I picked up a bunch of the new flavors they've come out with. If you've been eyeing them or going back and forth on whether to pick them up or not, just do it!

Ingredients: Candelilla wax, mango butter, coconut oil, jojoba oil, vitamin e, grapefruit seed extract, flavor

Have you tried these new flavors from The Gnarly Whale yet? What did you think of them?

Haul of the Week 5.29.13

Happy Wednesday, everyone! I hope you're all having a wonderful week! I also hope that yesterday was an easy day for you to transition back into the work week after the long weekend. I haven't been going as crazy on lip balm as I usually do, which would be really great for my wallet if I weren't going crazy on other things (perfume oils, face stuff, TONS of fitness stuff, etc). Even though this haul may be small, these balms are crazy amazing! I can't get enough of them!

There you have it!
What balms have you received this week?

Have a wonderful day!

PuurBody Part VI

Sometime ago, there was a sale over at PuurBody and I was, of course, obligated to buy a few balms because well: 1.) I'm the Lip Balm Wrangler, and 2.) I can't resist a sale. So I picked out a few flavors I hadn't tried yet, and well, that's what got us to here today!

Company: PuurBody

Flavors: Umbrella Drink, Creme Brulee, and Spumoni. The Umbrella Drink was not quite what I expected, it wasn't as fruity as I thought it would be and actually smelled more like soap. Rob and I thought it smelled like a light fruity soap that you sometimes get in bathrooms at nice hotels? That's the best way we could describe it! It also actually smells a little floral to me, like roses! The Creme Brulee wasn't quite what I was expecting either, instead of a caramel and vanilla creaminess, I smell Waffle Crisp cereal? Don't get me wrong, it smells freaking delicious to me, but it's not quite creme brulee. It smells more like maple syrup and brown sugar which smells freaking fantastic! The Spumoni was definitely something I've never had before and I was super intrigued since it was supposed to be pistachio, vanilla, and cherry; three of my favorite lip balm flavors in one! This one I can't tell you what it smells like, honestly, Rob and I have been racking our brains trying to find out what this smells like and it doesn't smell like anything I've had. It doesn't smell like pistachio, vanilla, or cherry, it smells like an unscented balm, but with a scent of some sort. Does that make sense?

Wear: These balms were a little stiffer than my usual PuurBody balms, but after a little while they softened up a bit. With two swipes on top and two on bottom, you've got a ton of creamy balm on your lips. These balms always leave my lips feeling soft and smooth. What's not to love about that?

Packaging: The Creme Brulee and Spumoni balms come in your average sized lip balm tubes and the Umbrella Drink balm comes in an oval tube. All tubes have white labels on them which have the shop name clearly stated on front, and just below it in a colored rectangle (colored to match the flavor of the balm) is the flavor of the balm.

Price: $3.50 per tube which is definitely more than I'm willing to pay for a PuurBody balm!

Overall
Pros: Wear, Packaging, Price, Flavors
Cons: Flavors were a little off

Rating: 4 out of 5 twists. I know, you're probably wondering "how can flavors be a pro and a con?" Well, that's because even though the flavors were off from what I thought they were supposed to be, I still liked them! I mean, come on, Waffle Crisp in a lip balm? Amazing! I love PuurBody balms and have yet to be dissatisfied with any of my purchases.

Ingredients: Castor Oil, Beeswax, Shea Butter, Cocoa Butter, Fragrance, Essential Oil

Have you tried these PuurBody balms before? What did you think of them?

Epically Epic Part 9?!

So it has just occurred to me that I have reviewed Epically Epic balms almost ten times! That's crazy! I mean, obviously I will definitely be doing a lot more than ten because I have over 60 tubes of Epically Epic balms. Have I mentioned I LOVE Epically Epic balms yet? =P

Company: Epically Epic

Flavors: Gummy Bears and Rocky Road. The Gummy Bears balm smells incredible! It's just like the first whiff you get when you open a brand new bag of sugary gummy bears, a huge combination of fruity scents! It's wonderful! I've only had Rocky Road ice cream about two times in my whole life (I believe both times were before I was even 13, so it's been a while), so I'm not a huge expert on what it's supposed to be like. But to me it smells chocolatey and a little bit nutty, it also isn't an overpowering chocolatey scent which I think is due to the fact that there's just a bit of vanilla in it too. I also get a good whiff of a marshmallow scent too! This balm has it all!

Wear: These balms glide right on! One swipe on top and one swipe on bottom and you're good to go! I usually end up going round and round my mouth a few times and end up looking like a crazy person, but hey I really like this stuff okay? I love slathering it on my lips! One of my favorite lip balm formulas ever, a little slicker than some of my balms, but still creamy and wonderful!

Packaging: These balms come in your average sized lip balm tubes with labels that are colored to match the flavor of the balm. The flavor of the balm is stated right on front which makes distinguishing the balm you're using super easy. If you're like me and have 60+ tubes of EE balms, then you're bound to have quite a few that look the same based on the color of the label and you definitely need a quick backup way of figuring out which balm you're about to use.

Price: $3.75 per tube which is totally worth it!

Overall
Pros: Flavors, Wear, Packaging, Price
Cons:

Rating: 5 out of 5 twists. Epically Epic balms are and will probably always be one of my most favorite lip balm shops everrrrr! If you haven't tried any of Allison's super amazing balms yet, please go do yourself a favor and try some! If you need any flavor recommendations or questions on any balm in particular, don't hesitate to contact me!

Ingredients: Pistachio Butter, Jojoba, Sweet Almond Oil, Castor Oil, Vitamin E, Candelilla Wax, Flavor, Natural Sweetener

Have you tried these Epically Epic balms yet? If not, which EE balms are your favorite?

Mini Monday 5.27.13

Happy Memorial Day, everyone! I hope you're enjoying your long weekend (if you have one that is)! I hope you also take some time today to thank and honor those who have either served our country or are currently serving our country. I meant to have a vlog for you today, but yesterday was just so hectic I didn't have enough time to shoot it. I'll get to work on the next vlog as soon as I can (hopefully next weekend). I hope you'll be okay with the usual Mini Monday!

ForGoodnessGrape's Lilikoi Creme
This balm smells like a much more sophisticated and tropical strawberry cream balm. It has a sweet passion fruit scent which is mellowed out by the scent of creme. It's also kind of like an orange creamsicles, but more tropical!

Ballyhoo Bath's Cherry Limeade
This balm has a sweet cherry and a pretty sour lime scent, something I'll probably be keeping handy during warmer summer weather.

Epically Epic's Lilikoi Orange
So tropical and refreshing, this balm smells like sweet and tropical passion fruit combined with the refreshing citrus of orange. Definitely one of my new favorites!

There you have it, this week's Mini Monday installment!

Have a wonderful day!

Soy N Suds

A little while ago, one of my readers recommended that I try some balms from Soy n Suds and since I'm always up for a good recommendation, I decided to try some out. I also feel like I need to branch out a little more in the shops that I buy from, but it's so hard to stray away from my favorites and staples!

Company: Soy N Suds

Flavors: Banana Baby, Tropical Paradise, and Mango. The Banana Baby smells just like those banana popsicles that come in those plastic tubes, I can't remember what they're called right now, but it smells like that! The Tropical Paradise is hard to describe, I think that there are so many scents in it that I can't detect any of them except maybe coconut. The Mango smells just like mango Jelly Bellies! H(ave I mentioned that I love, love, love mango Jelly Bellies?) This has a sweet, artificial mango scent, it's very candy-like; but like I said, I love Mango Jelly Bellies and this one definitely reminds me of them.

Wear: These balms have no fight in them at all, they glide on super smooth. They feel pretty creamy too.

Packaging: These balms come in white oval tubes with labels that are colored to match the flavor of the balm. The flavor of the balm is clearly stated on front, so if you can't distinguish them by color, you can definitely easily determine which balm you're reaching for. The labels are very simple and to the point.

Price: $2.50 per balm which is definitely doable! This is much cheaper than the usual balms I buy, so I was definitely willing to try out a few!

Overall
Pros: Flavors, Wear, Packaging, Price
Cons:

Rating: 3.5 out of 5 twists. These balms felt like they were missing a little something, I'm not sure what, but regardless these balms were still pretty great! If you're interested in trying out some new balm, but not breaking the bank to do so, these are the ones I'd recommend!

Ingredients: Soybean Oil, Beeswax, Sunflower Seed Oil, Cocoa Butter, Shea Butter, Vitamin E, Flavoring, Sweetener

Have you tried Soy N Suds balms before? What did you think of them?

Aqua Blossom's First Round of New Flavors!

When I first heard that Ashley was going to be coming up with some new flavors, you can bet that I was stalking her shop so I could get them as soon as they were in stock. I'm a sucker for any new flavors from my favorite shops and Aqua Blossom is definitely one of my favorite shops! These were some of the first new flavors that she came out with, there have been a ton more since I got these and you can bet I jumped at those too!

Company: Aqua Blossom

Flavors: Blueberry Lemon, Sweet Cream & Strawberries, Pina Colada, Citrus Sangria, Strawberry Lime, Peaches & Coconut Milk, and Lemon Cheesecake. The Blueberry Lemon smells amazing and exactly like it should; fresh, ripe, and juicy blueberries combined with sweet and refreshing lemon! The Sweet Cream and Strawberries smells wonderful and makes me really crave strawberries. It smells of ripe, sweet strawberries and fresh cream, it also has a lighter scent. The Pina Colada is perfect for summer! It's just like the tropical drink, warm, tropical coconut combined with ripe pineapple, yum! Okay, if you like citrus balms at all, you HAVE to try the Citrus Sangria. Oh my gosh does this balm smell incredible! It's full of bright, refreshing citrus scents and just, wow! The Strawberry Lime is definitely one of my go-to's for this summer, it's one of my new favorites! It's a wonderful combination of sweet strawberries and sour lime, seriously, try it. Peaches and Coconut Milk is always one of my favorite flavor combinations and this one was no different, ripe peaches and tropical coconut make this balm smell amazing! Okay, one balm that I can't go even a day without using is the Lemon Cheesecake. It's a perfect lemon cheesecake balm, sweet lemon and creamy cheesecake, what's there not to love?

Wear: All of these balms go on super smooth and glide on easily. You can definitely get away with only using two swipes on top and two on bottom, although I usually go way overboard and end up circling my mouth three or four times. They're just so smooth and wonderful! They sink into my lips and make them feel so smooth.

Packaging: One of the reasons I can circle around my lips so many times is because these balms come in oval tubes! I just feel like oval tubes really fit the contour of your lips and make it super, super easy to get carried away when putting on balm (or is that just me?). These labels always look so polished, I just love them. The labels have a colored section that takes up half the label that's colored or patterned differently for each flavor, I love this because it makes it super easy to pick out the balm I'm looking for.

Price: $3.75 which is a steal for one of these balms!

Overall
Pros: Flavors, Wear, Packaging, Price
Cons:

Rating: 5 out of 5 twists. Aqua Blossom balms are definitely some of my most favorite balms and I can't recommend them enough. These new flavors were definitely on point and just amazing. If you've been eyeing them, just get them, they're wonderful!

Ingredients: shea butter, sweet almond oil, apricot kernel oil, avocado oil, candelilla wax, coconut oil, kokum butter, soybean oil, essential and/or lip-safe fragrance (flavor) oil, vitamin e oil

Have you tried these new Aqua Blossom flavors yet? What did you think of them?

My Graduation!

Hi all! Happy Wednesday!

I actually don't have a haul for you this week! I had been really good lately and had refrained from buying lip balm, that is, until this past weekend when I went a little crazier than my boyfriend would have liked. It wasn't all lip balm, but I am being put on a hiatus for a little while ^_^. So, since I don't have a haul for you this week, I thought that I'd share some pictures with you guys from my graduation. Well, mostly the day before when my family and I went nuts and took a bunch of pictures together. It was so much fun and walking the next day was also really fun and exciting! I have to warn you though, at first it was really cloudy and windy when we started taking pictures, and then all of a sudden it was WAY too sunny so there's a lot of squinting! There's also a bunch of pictures because I couldn't just decide on like five.

My youngest sister, Brittany, and I.

It was really windy!

My dad wasn't quite ready for pictures yet. This photo kind of represents each of us really well.

The three of us are hard to separate! My two greatest supporters and my best friends.

Best photo of my dad and I, ever!
We were cheesin' really hard.

My mom, dad, Britt, and I.

My dad, my younger sister Michelle, my mom, me, Britt, and Rob.

The three sisters (I'm the oldest).

We were having a really good time taking these photos haha.

All of us again.

My family got really great seats for graduation and Britt was able to get this photo shortly after I got off stage.

I hope you enjoyed these ridiculous photos! They're some of my favorite photos ever and I can't get enough of them!

Have a wonderful day!
